Product Forms The Aquamere product line consists of four different formulation groups or grades consisting of the H, A, C and S-series. Different grades of Aquamere polymers vary in their physical properties as well as their chemical composition. Depending on the specific Aquamere series, these formulations impart different degrees of viscosity, luster and body to cosmetic products. AQUAMERE H-SERIES INCI NAME: PVP/Polycarbamyl/Polyglycol Ester H-series products are solutions of PVP and hydrophilic polyurethane exhibit high viscosity, superb film forming properties and excellent compatibility with other cosmetic ingredients. AQUAMERE A-SERIES INCI NAME: PVP/Polycarbamyl/Polyglycol Ester A-series product contains the same polymers as H-series but they are dispersed in ethanol for quick drying. AQUAMERE C-SERIES INCI NAME: PVP/Dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate/Polycarbamyl/Polyglycol Ester C-series products are solutions of cationic grafted Dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate/PVP copolymers and hydrophilic polyurethane, exhibit high viscosity, and can be easily worked into formulations. These products have excellent adhesion and greater substantivity to skin and hair than H-series while maintaining excellent film forming properties and imparting mildness to anionic surfactant containing systems. Also suitable for MouthWash Formulations. AQUAMERE S-SERIES INCI NAME: PVP/Dimethyiconylacrylate/Polycarbamyl/Polyglycol Ester S-series products contain unique silicone based copolymers of Dimethiconylacrylate/PVP and hydrophilic polyurethane, exhibiting a low viscosity and silky feel without oily residue. They are ideal for application where sheen or tack reduction is required. TOXICOLOGY: Toxicological studies have shown Aquamere series have a primary skin irritation index of zero, a primary ocular irritation rating of zero and a non-toxic oral toxicity rating. A full safety dossier is available upon request. They are non-comedogenic. HANDLING & SAFETY: Material Safety Data Sheets are available upon request from Hydromer Inc. Dependingon the specific Aquamere series, these formulations impart different degrees of viscosity, luster and body to cosmetic products.

AQUAMERE H-SERIESINCI NAME: PVP/Polycarbamyl/Polyglycol Ester

H-series products are solutions of PVP and hydrophilic polyurethane exhibit high viscosity, superb film forming properties andexcellent compatibility with other cosmetic ingredients.

AQUAMERE A-SERIESINCI NAME: PVP/Polycarbamyl/Polyglycol Ester

A-series product contains the same polymers as H-series but they are dispersed in ethanol for quick drying.

AQUAMERE C-SERIESINCI NAME: PVP/Dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate/Polycarbamyl/Polyglycol Ester

C-series products are solutions of cationic grafted Dimethylaminoethylmethacrylate/PVP copolymers and hydrophilic polyurethane, exhibit high viscosity, and can be easily worked into formulations. These products have excellent adhesion and greatersubstantivity to skin and hair than H-series while maintaining excellent film forming properties and imparting mildness toanionic surfactant containing systems. Also suitable for MouthWash Formulations.

AQUAMERE S-SERIESINCI NAME: PVP/Dimethyiconylacrylate/Polycarbamyl/Polyglycol Ester

S-series products contain unique silicone based copolymers of Dimethiconylacrylate/PVP and hydrophilic polyurethane, exhibitinga low viscosity and silky feel without oily residue. They are ideal for application where sheen or tack reduction is required.

TOXICOLOGY:Toxicological studies have shown Aquamere series have a primary skin irritation index of zero, a primary ocular irritationrating of zero and a non-toxic oral toxicity rating. A full safety dossier is available upon request. They are non-comedogenic.

Water Resistance:Aquamere film forming properties and affinity to skinprovides water resistance from the water phase to cosmeticformulations. This is the most important property in suncare products when claims of water resistance are desirable.Water resistance of these film forming class of polymers isshown below.

Hydrophobicity:Contact angles for various film forming Aquamere polymerswere measured, and the data is shown below. These filmforming hydrophobic characteristics from a water phasepolymer are exactly what makes the Aquamere polymerfamily such an excellent choice for a wide variety of cosmeticfilm former applications.

Shine and Gloss:A class of Aquamere polymer, Aquamere S- Series contains aunique silicone copolymer of PVP/Dimethiconylacrylate, whichimproves the lubricity of formulations and adds shine to haircare products. It also has good spreading properties, whichassist in the formation of coherent, continuous films. Whenused in shampoos, conditioners, mousses and gels, the polymerevenly coats the hair. The higher the silicone content, thegreater the lubricity or shine. When used in lipsticks it impartsto the consumer a perceivable and desirable increase in gloss. It is ideal for sand-proofing sun care products and reductiontack in lotions in addition to helping retain water-phase UVAabsorbers and inorganic pigments, like Ti02 and Zn0.

Rheology Modifier:Aquamere ingredients act like rheology modifiers in cosmeticformulations. In contrast to other modifiers, the viscosity inthe end use formulation is not dependent on pH. The viscosityof the final formulation depends, however, on the interactionof the polymer hydrophobes with specific moieties present inthe formulation. This property adds body and richness to skinlotions, hold and moisture resistance to hair care products.Depending on the specific Aquamere series, these formulationsimpart different degrees of viscosity changes.

Aquamere polymer systems are a patented class of polymerblends developed by Hydromer Inc. This class ofhydrophobic polymers is comprised of Polyurethane andPVP polymers or copolymers of PVP. These biocompatiblematerials form interpolymers with unique rheologicaland film forming properties, plus the ability to complexwith a wide range of organic molecules such as dyes, and UV absorbers.

Aquamere technology is ideal for various cosmeticapplications, providing multifunctional capabilities that cansatisfy unique cosmetic function requirements such as waterand rub resistance, adhesion to skin, flexibility, styling, tackreduction, gloss, durability, moisture barrier, actives andpigment binding capabilities from the water phase. Aquamerepolymers possess excellent spread properties, which assistin forming coherent, continuous films.
