    This position is NOT in a collective bargaining unit.

    DUTIES IN BRIEF:

    Writes, manages or directs a staff in the writing and dissemination of press releases, Newsletters and otherpublications that provide information about the activities, legislative initiatives, special events or otherissues impacting citizens in the District.

    Develops a process and mechanism for the receipt of information from citizens, customers, media, groupsor organizations.

    Coordinates with the Director of Constituent Services or Constituent Services Coordinators communityoutreach meetings.

    Designs and develops a communication plan.

    Monitors and manages the communication plan and assures stakeholders, customers employees andothers interested receive updates, changes and other communication associated with the plan. Assures the monitoring and updating to inquiries from the community via the website, telephone lines,

    emails, written correspondence and other mechanisms.

    Coordinates the responses to these inquiries with the appropriate staff member.Assures the monitoring of hits to the Councilmembers website, recommends expanding site components andadvertises the Internet Site in Councilmember press releases, newsletters and other appropriate publications.

    QUALIFICATIONS: The successful incumbent of this position will possess at least a bachelors degree in

    communications, media relations, journalism or other related field of study that exhibits a proficiency in

    Communications, Public Affairs or Public Information. Experience, as a manager may be required if

    supervising subordinates is a part of the requirements of the position. Education and experience must exhibit

    both breadth and depth and demonstrate the possession of the organizational skills and competencies.

    DOMICILE REQUIREMENT: An appointee to the Excepted Service is required to be domiciled in the District ofColumbia at the time of his or her appointment, or become a domiciliary of the District of Columbia within 180 days ofappointment, and shall maintain such domicile during the period of appointment. (D.C. Official Code 1-609.06(a) and1-610.59; and 6 DCMR B 305.)
