April Claus For my research, I worked within the Human Factors Division of the Space Systems Lab on campus. I researched under the supervision of Professor David Akin, as well as graduate student Kevin Davis. My research was focused on the design and construction of space suit analogues, as well as the design of the backpacks that attached to the space suits. While participating in this research, I was able to learn how to use several of the machines within the SSL, choose and order the best materials, and work with a large team of researchers. This research team that I worked with was very flexible. I was able to average about 10 hours of work per week, but I could come in whenever I needed to and stay for however long I could. For my research, I worked within the Human Factors Division of the Space Systems Lab on campus. I researched under the supervision of Professor David Akin, as well as graduate student Kevin Davis.
My research was focused on the design and construction of space suit analogues, as well as the design of the backpacks that attached to the space suits. While participating in this research, I was able to learn how to use several of the machines within the SSL, choose and order the best materials, and work with a large team of researchers.
