REVIEW: CHARACTER COMMITTEES Assign a scribe to record your committees findings.

Review Acts 1 and 2. Collect from the first 2 acts

at least 4 lines said by your character or about your character that reveal something about their appearance or personality and explain what they show about your character. Remember to cite Act, Scene and Line number.

Explain what the lines show about your characterFor example: Macbeth “if chance will have me king, why, chance will crown me / Without my stir” (1.3.157-159) This passage shows Macbeth in the first stages of ambition. It is possible that his caution shows loyalty, but a second interpretation is that it shows he fears acting on his desires.

ANALYZE THE ARC: BANQUOACT 3 SCENE 1Act 3 scene 1 Lines 1-76 What is Banquo thinking in his soliloquy? Is he

becoming more obsessed with the prophecy or no? What is Macbeth’s goal in your opinion in his discussion

with Banquo? In Macbeth’s soliloquy, what are his feelings regarding

Banquo? Is he being rational or not? Why?Act 3 Scene 1 Lines 77- end How is Macbeth manipulating the murderers? Is this

similar to or different from the way Lady Macbeth tried to manipulate him in the past?

Do you believe that Macbeth is telling the truth about Banquo? (Was Banquo truly the Murderers‘ enemy?) Why or why not?

Why won’t Macbeth kill Banquo himself?

ANALYZE THE ARC: LADY MACT 3 SCENE 2 Act 3 Scene 2 (This activity counts for your Act

3 Scene 2 questions)

Has Macbeth and Lady Macbeth’s relationship changed?

With a partner, discuss and answer these questions and create a chart that analyzes the changes in their relationship from act 1 to now. Consider the following:

Has Lady M changed? Look at the brief soliloquy on lines 6-9…What is she revealing about herself/her character? Is this the same woman we saw in 1.5 and 1.7?

Has Macbeth changed? In Macbeth’s lines which finish the scene, how are his words similar to things we have heard before? Why have things changed?

How are Macbeth and Lady M’s position’s different from the discussion of murdering Duncan? Why have things changed?
