ALUMNI WEEKEND FAREWELL BRUNCH HONORING 2017 JAG20 AWARD RECIPIENTS
Pardon NdhlovuBe sure to join us for this very special event as we honor the third class of Jag20 award recipients. Enjoy a hearty, southern-style brunch and network with fellow alumni and friends. The Jag20 is a group of 20 outstanding alumni under the age of
40 who are emerging leaders, making an impact in their field and in their community.
At the Summer Olympics in Rio this year, AU alumnus and volunteer cross country and track and field coach, Pardon Ndhlovu was there – not as a spectator, but as a competitor in the men’s Olympic marathon.
Pardon came to Augusta in 2013 to get his master’s degree and he spent two seasons with the Jaguars as the top assistant for men’s and women’s cross country.
Originally from Harare, Zimbabwe, Pardon started running seriously when he was 13 and, as a freshman in high school, he started beating juniors and seniors regularly. He represented Zimbabwe on the junior level in the 5,000-meter event in 2006.
Pardon dreamed of attending college in the United States, but he struggled to pass the SAT. In 2009, he finally passed the test and found a college home at UNC Pembroke and became one of the most decorated student-athletes in the school history. He holds the cross country 8km record, and was a four time All-American, two times in track and two times in cross country. Pardon’s academic and athletic success garnered him a NCAA Postgraduate scholarship to Augusta University, making him the only person in the school history to receive this scholarship.
