Pioneer Jews at 10,000 Feet: The History of Leadville’s Jewish Community Monday, May 9, 7:00 pm

Unbeknownst to many, Leadville was once home to a thriving Jewish community, complete with temple, cemetery, and well-known residents including members of the May and Guggenheim families. Facilitator and Leadville resident Bill Korn has spearheaded this effort for over 20 years. He started, and still leads the Temple Israel Foundation and oversaw the meticulous renovation of the temple and cemetery. Click here to register.

Hebrew Calligraphy with Risa Aqua Mondays, April 25 & May 2, 7:30 pm In the first class, Risa Aqua will teach the rudiments of writing the Hebrew aleph-bet, which we will practice in a focused and meditative way. Israeli Dance Saturdays (check program guide for times)

Learn basic steps that recur in many Israeli dances, and teach/review several dances in each class. The evening will begin with a beautiful Havdallah service, a special appearance and dance lesson by Rabbi Birdie Becker. Havdallah, led by Rabbi Birdie, will begin at 8:20 pm.

Facilitators Felice Morel and Jaime Sodosky are avid dancers who have enjoyed and performed Israeli dancing for years. Cost is free but please register here.

J-Serve: The International Day of Jewish Teen Service Monday, May 1 Colorado teens will gather o create 400 Comfort Bags for foster and refugee children, and people experiencing homelessness. B'nai Havurah is collecting items for J-Serve to help pack the comfort bags. Let's all help fill the bags! Drop off toiletry items including travel size shampoo, conditioner and lotion. Can you drop of some or many? Do you know someone who can donate bulk items? J-Serve and J-Hub are grantees of the B'nai Havurah Tikkun Olam Fund and B'nai is a sponsor of this event with many other congregations and Jewish organizations.
