CALIFORNIA COLONY COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
COMPLIANCE LETTERS If you ever receive a courtesy letter to call your attention to a certain California
Colony compliance issue, please make sure you call Management to inform that
you are addressing the issue and/or need more time to resolve the matter. This
way, we avoid pursuing further compliance action in the meantime. Please
remember, Management is here to help the homeowners.
KEEP YOUR COMMUNITY SAFE Please remember to follow the speed limit while driving in and around the
community. Be mindful of your vehicle speed when turning in and/or out of
residential areas due to bicyclists and pedestrians. It is imperative that residents
and guests observe all traffic laws (Stop Signs, Yield Signs, Fire Hydrants &
Parking Regulations) while in our community.
NEIGHBOR TO NEIGHBOR AWARENESS Residents have to share walls with neighbors beside them and possibly views into
backyards as well. Private use landscaping needs to be maintained through-out
the year. If you have overhanging tree branches or large bushes, please be sure to
trim them regularly. Patio covers or other exterior structures, need to be painted
and maintained annually. Just because you can not see the top of your patio
cover, doesn’t mean that your neighbor above or on either side of you should
have to view a poorly maintained structure. A key to a happy community is
respect. Respecting your neighbor’s right to the quiet enjoyment of their home is
part of the arrangement. Your neighbors will appreciate, and hopefully
reciprocate the courtesy.
EXTERIOR PAINTING REMINDER Do you remember the last time the exterior of your home was painted? As a
general rule of thumb, wood and metal should be painted every 4 years and stucco
every 8 years.
Please take a careful, impartial look at your home. You should consider painting
anything that is faded, discolored, cracked or has begun to peel. Wood repairs
and/or replacement may be necessary as well. The approved color schemes for the
Association can be obtained from Management. If you would like to propose a
color change, please submit an Architectural Application. Note: You must receive
approval of your application before beginning to paint.

COYOTE REMINDER
Coyotes are found in all areas of Orange County. Under normal circumstances, a coyote is not a danger to humans. If a
coyote approaches you, appear as large and threatening as possible. Make aggressive gestures by moving your arms and
legs, shout in a low voice, and throw rocks, sticks or objects toward, not at the coyote. Maintain eye contact and move
slowly away from the coyote toward a building or an area of increased activities. If you think a coyote is sick or
injured, call the local animal control office at (949) 470-3045. It is also worth noting that it is hard for a coyote to pass
up a free meal or, as the case may be, a defenseless pet. Keep your cats and small dogs indoors or in the close presence
of an adult. If you must leave your pet outside, it is recommended to leave them in a fully enclosed kennel.
Experts recommend the following steps:
Always walk your pet on a leash. Keep cats and small dogs indoors. When walking small dogs, always keep them
on a leash. Any pet smaller than 45 pounds should never be left outside past 4 p.m. Coyotes are most active dusk to
dawn. Avoid walking pets after dark. Bring along pepper spray or a stick in case a coyote gets aggressive. Screaming or
yelling and waving arms sometimes won't work on coyotes that have lost their fear of humans. Always feed pets
indoors. Eliminate potential food and water sources, such as fallen fruit or vegetables and standing water. Do not feed
coyotes. Doing so can make them less afraid of humans and potentially more dangerous.
