Volume 11, Issue 9
Jami Rockey, one of our outstanding 5th grade teachers, was presented with the Coughlin You Make Difference Award, one of the premiere teaching awards in Licking County. Jami was nominated by her student, Haley Roach. Haley said “Mrs. Rockey is like family to me . . . and she makes me want to be a 5th grade math teacher.” This is what educators do that can’t be measured, tested or evaluated. Please take the opportunity to congratulate Jami. This is Jami’s 3rd teaching award!!!
Leigh Anne Fickes, LVMS science teacher, was awarded one of five 2017 Tibbie Leslie Travel Grants awarded via the
Licking County Foundation. The grant provides educators the opportunity
to travel the world to study and then share their knowledge with their students. Leigh Anne will travel to Iceland later this year and can’t wait to take a picture of herself standing on the Mid-Atlantic Ridge to share with her students when they study the plate tectonics unit in science class. Please send Leigh Anne your congratulations!

Licking Valley Middle School is fortunate to have excep-tional writers that we like to
showcase in a year-end publication,
Scribbled Voices. The book costs $5.00 (cash or checks made payable to Licking Valley Middle School), and it is a wonderful keepsake. The book will be delivered to the stu-dents at the end of the year. Order forms are now available on the LVMS website, the MS office, or from any Language Arts teacher. Ask your child if they are a featured writer. If you have any questions, please contact Traci Lausberg at [email protected].

Donkey Ball In the 10th annual donkey basketball held at Utica HS the LV FFA team won in a 18-14 battle. This was the 9th straight win for Valley and they brought home the traveling trophy again. Team members were Fischer White, Addie Ware, Emi-ly Priest, Andrew Holtz, Hunter Priest, Briar Hartshorn, Maddie Jarrett and Jordan Ellis. Andrew Holtz led the team with 8 points, and the donkeys won with the most players falling off. Next years game will be held at Licking Valley March 3, 2018.
Joslin Holtz was the winner of the Soil and Water Conservation District River Round up poster contest. Mr. Ellis’ Ag III class had to produce a poster as part of their water conservation lesson.
