know where to turn. Jesus reached out to Kenny Broderick of TVEA's business assistance teamand expressed having rent increase, administrative costs, and oversight issues. Since LAVCstudent foot traffic had decreased, he struggled with keeping staff employed, bringing downoperating costs, and needing to retain staff to do more than one job duty.

Kenny worked with Jesus to prioritize his challenges and immediately provided resources to helphis business. Program Manager Angelica Banuelos of Valley Economic Development CorporationNorth Valley Business Source guided him in creating a business plan and provided Quick Booksclasses. Clemente Delatorre, Territory Manager of Heartland Payment Systems, addressed hismerchant services and operating expense issues. These resources helped Jesus develop abusiness plan, improved his challenging operating expenses, cross training staff, and helpeddevelop better bookkeeping practices. He was able to keep 6 of his staff employed, continue toprovide great food in a timely manner, and manage the daily operations.

The WCMP is a result driven accelerator focused on women owners' specific needs, and connectsentrepreneurs with highly skilled mentors and business development programs to ensure theyachieve sustainable growth. The WCMP is designed to solve problems affectingEconomically Disadvantaged Women Owned Small Business (EDWOSB,) provide greateropportunities, and build a powerful collaborative business community.

Women accepted into the collaborative will have a sequential program designed specifically forthem. Women, who do not qualify, will enter the Directive Training Program through BusinessDevelopment Center partners. The program also offers mentoring grants to serve the EDWOSBcommunity.

Gail Lara is Director of the WCMP and offers over two decades of experience in businessdevelopment, training, and leadership.

"The problem with current training is that sixteen hours isn't enough time for an aspiringentrepreneur to complete a business plan and be ready for lending. Their lack of directioncombined with no advisory team and low/no start-up capital, results in high failure rate of womenowned businesses. Our goal is to help women achieve $150k in annual revenue and prepare herfor funding," said Gail.

WCMP is currently seeking sponsors and investors. Please contact Gail Lara at 818 359-2692 [email protected] for more information.
