On Wednesday, March 25th, seventeen 4th and six 5th graders competed in the Bucks
County Reading Olympic Competition held at Neshaminy High School. Samuel
Everitt fielded two teams for this competition which began practicing in November.
Collectively the students read 45 books and completed countless story maps on each.
Both teams earned Green Ribbons in the competition and should be commended for
their commitment to Reading over the course of the year.

Students in Mrs. Lysun’s third grade class gave up some of their recess time to spread some sunshine into the lives of others. The students made Valentine’s for elderly residents at a nursing home back in February. They enjoyed it so much; they created spring baskets and filled them with candy for the nursing home residents. The baskets will be handed out during our Easter break.
Austin Smolen was a weekly Dolphin Ticket winner and chose Riley Lokitis, and Jaden Miller to have lunch with him and Mrs. Arner as a prize! Congrats Austin on showing Respect, Responsibility, and Safety!
Everitt’s Field Day will be held on Friday, May 15, 2015. The day is
designed for students to participate in a wide range of activities. In
order for the day to run smoothly, parents are needed to volunteer
at the various areas. A flier will be coming home with students.
Parents wishing to volunteer should fill out the appropriate section
of the flier and return it to school. Volunteers will have time to
observe their child participating in the activities. The rain date will
be Monday, May 18, 2015.
When: Wednesday, May 6th
Time: 6:30 pm to 8 pm Where: Throughout the entire school
“The arts give us the opportunity to educate the whole
child…to allow every child a chance to raise his or her
self-esteem and become a life-long lover of creativity.”
This Spring Art Show is organized to showcase your child’s artistic talents as they have progressed throughout the year!
We are very proud of the accomplishments our students have made and look forward to sharing
them with you. See you there…

TIPS for Parents This is a very important test and, in an effort to maximize pupil performance, we are offering the following suggestions:
The Evenings Before the Test
Maintain the same routine in your home. Don’t change bedtime rules or begin a new system of chores. This may upset your child.
Talk to your child about the test. Encourage your child to perform to the best of his/her ability. Your child should be encouraged to take the test seriously.
Help your child understand the purpose of testing, how test results are used, and how this information helps the teacher understand what your child needs to learn.
Insure that your child goes to bed at a reasonable time.
The Morning of the Test
Encourage your child to rise a few minutes earlier to avoid rushing. Have your child at the bus stop or at school on time.
Suggest a nutritious breakfast be eaten.
Have your child dress comfortably in a favorite outfit if possible.
Reassure your child about the test. Try to reduce any test anxiety or concerns they may have.
Send your child to school in a positive frame of mind. Tests are not for punishment but instead an attempt to show how much you know.
Progress Reports for the third marking period will be made
available on the Home Access Center on Friday, April 10th.
April PTO News…………………
March was a fun month for everyone at Samuel Everitt! We had a huge turnout at our BINGO night and the
Talent Show will wrap up the month on Friday March 27th
.
This school year is going by so fast. April will be a month for planning and preparation for the rest of our
year.
April 6th will be the PTO meeting. The meeting will start at 7pm. We hope to see more
parents/guardians at the meeting. These meetings are for adults only; please leave your children home.
Our school store dates will be April 14th and April 28th.
We are still in the process of moving all parents/guardians to the new SAMUEL EVERITT PTO GROUP
page on Facebook. This is a CLOSED page, which means it is more secure for our children, families and
school. We will verify that every person that requests to be in the group is a parent/guardian of an Everitt
student, this may take a day or two, and so please be patient. The old "like" page will be closed down on
April 3rd. We put important updates and information on the SAMUEL EVERITT PTO GROUP page and
you can ask questions and get in touch with the board members quicker. Please be sure to find us on
Facebook.
We hope you had a safe and wonderful Easter Recess!
Thank you!
