Iberian Circuit A program to discover the best of Portugal and Spain

Airport reception and transfer to the hotel.

Free time for first contact with the beautiful Spanish

capital, a city with more than 3 million inhabitants, located

in the geographical center of the country. It is thought that

its name may come from the Arabic word "magerid".

Madrid, conquered from the Moors in 939, by King Ramiro

II, only in 1083, with D. Afonso VI, would definitely pass

into the possession of Christian kings and would be

elevated to the category of Spanish capital only in the

reign of Philip II in 1561.

Day 1 – Madrid

After breakfast, a panoramic tour of the city of Madrid,

visiting its main districts and monuments: Plaza de

Espanha, with the Cervantes monument, Gran Via, the

city's main commercial artery lined with beautiful

buildings, Plaza Cibeles, with its harmonious fountain

dedicated to the Greek goddess of agriculture and

fertility, the Paseo del Prado, with its famous museum,

the old Atocha train station, today decorated with a

beautiful tropical garden, the Retiro Park, the Plaza de

Toros de Las Ventas, the most beautiful in Spain, the

Paseo de la Castellana, the city's main avenue with its

beautiful gardens and fountains, the Plaza del Puerta del

Iberian Circuit – 15 days

Madrid – Gran Via

Zaragoza

After breakfast, a half-day excursion to the fortified city of

Toledo, Spain's former capital, which reached its height in

Day 4 – Madrid / Zaragoza / Barcelona

After breakfast, departure by high-speed train - AVE -

stopping in Zaragoza, former capital of the kingdom of

Aragon one of the most powerful kingdoms that existed in

the Iberian Peninsula. Free time for lunch and visit to the

famous Basilica of the Virgin of the Pillar, erected on the

site where Our Lady would have appeared twice to the

Apostle Santiago, on a small pillar that stood as a

witness and around which Santiago had the first church

Toledo

Hotel stay at half board. In the morning, a panoramic visit of the

Catalan capital: the famous Gothic Quarter, the oldest in the

city, named after the large number of Gothic buildings in it,

such as the beautiful Cathedral (entrance), whose construction

Breakfast at the hotel and start of trip to Valencia CIUDAD

DE LAS ARTES Y LAS CIENCIAS. Leaving for Terragona -

UNESCO World Heritage Site. Altónoma Community of

Catalonia, bathed by the Mediterranean Sea. It has great

historical and cultural traditions. We will take a brief tour -

passing by - Castellon De La Plana. Continuation of the trip

to Valencia, where we will take a brief tour.

Departure to Granada, stopping at Murcia for lunch.

Arrival and visit to the Alhambra (former palace and

fortification complex of Islamic monarchs) named for

one of the 7 Wonders of the World, a UNESCO World

Heritage Site and jewel of Islamic civil architecture. We

recommend a visit to the Cathedral and the Royal

Chapel where are the remains of the Catholic Kings.

Valencia

Seville

Breakfast at the hotel. Travel to Cordoba, where we will take

a panoramic tour of the city and the Cordoba Mosque, a

World Heritage Site, which was once the most important

outside the Islamic World. Lunch at a local restaurant.

Continuation of the trip to Seville. Arriving in Seville, the

beautiful Andalusian capital, situated on the banks of the

Guadalquivir River and once holding the rich monopoly of

Spain's trade with the New World, has made it one of the

richest cities in Europe. It was the birthplace of the famous

painters Murillo and Velasquez and inspired authors of

famous operas such as "Carmen" and "Barber of Seville".

At night, you can watch a typical flamenco show, a typically

Andalusian art, traditionally danced by Gypsies. (Optional)



Day 8 – Granada / Cordoba / Seville

historical part by foot, passing by the Temple of Diana, Sé,

Giraldo Square and St. Francis Church where you can

visit the Chapel of Bones. Free time for lunch. In the

afternoon we will visit the village of Monsaraz with its

medieval urbanism and where they lived, ending in one of

the region's wineries to taste the famous wines produced

there. After the visit, return to Évora. Dinner at the hotel.


Day 12 – Algarve / Évora / Monsaraz

Day 13 – Évora / Tomar / Fátima / Óbidos / Lisbon
