Cómo se Pronuncian las Palabras en Inglés Como ya sabéis, el inglés es "complicado" de pronunciar porque tiene sonidos o fonemas que no tenemos nosotros en castellano. Por otra parte, al combinar más consonantes de lo normal con pocas vocales, se nos hace difícil decir de forma correcta las palabras. Pero he aquí unos trucos que te ayudarán a pronunciar todas las palabras correctamente: 1º Nuestro sonido "j" (el que sale cuando hacemos gárgaras) no existe en inglés. Ellos no lo tienen en su vocabulario, de tal manera que si lo pronuncias, no te van a entender... Las palabras que empiezan por "h" en inglés, se pronuncian con el sonido que nosotros hacemos cuando queremos empañar un cristal (haz tú el sonido ahora). Por ejemplo:

House /haus/ (casa)

Hair /her/ (pelo)

Horse /hors/ (caballo)

Y así con toooodas las palabras que empiezan por "h", menos "Hour" /aua*/ (hora) y sus derivados que tienen un sonido más suave. (Imagínate siempre lo del cristal y nunca fallarás) 2º Otro sonido que no tenemos en nuestro vocabulario, pero ellos sí y, además es muy frecuente, es el de las palabras formadas con las letras "SH" (she, sheep, shy, ship, shoulder, etc...). Esta "SH" se pronuncia parecida a nuestra "s", pero dejando más hueco entre la lengua y el paladar, y poniendo los labios en forma de "o" (haz tú el sonido ahora y lee las palabras siguientes: she, sheep, shy, ship, shoulder). 3º Dos "o"es juntas, se pronuncian "u". Por ejemplo:

Book /buk/ (libro)

Room /rum/ (habitación)

Pool /pul/ (piscina)

Si es cierto el clásico refrán: "el saber no ocupa lugar",en el caso del idioma inglés todavía tiene mayor relevancia, pues dada la importancia del mismo, su conocimiento es fundamental para conseguir una buena formación.

º Dos "e"s juntas, se pronuncian "i". Por ejemplo:

Sheep /ship/ (oveja)

Thirteen /zertin/ (trece)

Free /fri/ (libre, gratuito)

4º La "R" inglesa es muchísimo más suave que la española. A veces, tanto, que apenas se escucha, sobre todo, al final de palabra. El símbolo * en los ejemplos, indica un "R" suavísima. Al pronunciarla, imagínate que tienes la lengua dormida o con poca fuerza (haz tú el sonido ahora). Por ejemplo:

Red /red/ (rojo)

River /rive*/ (río)

Race /reis/ (carrera)

5º Las palabras que empiezan por "S" seguidas de consonante (spring, snake, study, snail, station, Spain...) se pronuncian con "s" y no "e". Nosotros, al no tener ese sonido en nuestro vocabulario, tendemos a pronunciar una "e" antes de esa "s" (e)sky, (e)smile, (e)spider,... cosa que es un error muy común. El truco para no pronunciar esa "e" es comenzar con "s" (como si mandásemos callar o estar en silencio a alguien. (Haz tú el sonido ahora y lee las palabras siguientes. ¡NO PRONUNCIES LA "E"!).

Smile /smail/ (sonrisa)

Spider /spáida*/ (araña) 6º Si lo que tenemos son palabras delante de ese sonido "s" + consonante, es incluso más fácil de pronunciar porque juntamos la "s" con la letra anterior y la decimos. Por ejemplo:

Recuerde, practique la escritura y pronunciación de cada palabra tantas veces como sea necesario hasta que logre hacerlo sin problemas, pero escriba y pronuncie al mismo tiempo.
