Dear K-Family
Salutations! My name is Eric Zhu and I will be having the
distinct honor of serving you as Lieutenant Governor of Di-
vision 11 of the New Jersey District of Key Club for this
2013-2014 service year.
I am a junior at Piscataway High School, and I have been
with Key Club as general member since my freshman year.
However, my passion for key club only awakened about
half way through my sophomore year partly from adjust-
ing to high school and finding that I have lots of things
that I wanted to do, but also from large insistence from
the immediate passed lieutenant governor Mei. In fact, I
made a personal pledge to myself during last year's DCON
to become this year's lieutenant governor.
On the way to my present situation, I dabbled in the Chief-
tain my school's newspaper, built robots with my robotics
team (which sadly I will drop to focus more on Key Club),
played the Viola with the Chamber Orchestra and was a
frequent attendee and contributor to my school's Chinese
Culture Club and Medical club. Key Club rose above all of
these clubs because I think Key Club is the best, which has
only been proven more by the fact that Key Club gets pro-
gressively more fun and interesting, the more involved I
got.
Again, I cannot wait to serve you all as Lieutenant Gover-
nor! I hope to establish healthy relationships with my offic-
ers while playing a uniting force between my clubs by en-
couraging more divisional and district events. I have my
eyes set on becoming a Robert F. Lucas Distinguished
Lieutenant Governor with all the PCMs, OTCs, and forms
and dues that I need to collect to get there. Adding to
that, I already see an opportunity to grow my first new
club in Highland Park!
Thank you for allowing me to lead this division!
Yours in caring and service,
Feel free to email, call, or text me!

Good Bye Old Board!
I’ll admit- I was reluctant to go to District Convention, for several different rea-
sons. First and foremost, I’m just a freshman; it would be the first time I was on my own,
away from home. None of my best friends were going, either.
I realize now what a horrible mistake not going would have been.
DCON, in one word, was incredible. I learned so much more about Key Club, its
structure, its goals- I felt at home at DCON; everyone was so friendly, like family. I fell
harder in love with this Club, with all its values. I came home a stronger Key Clubber, a
stronger President to my Club- but I also came out a more confident person.
I’ve brought back an innumerable amount of ideas to take my Club places. In
three days, I made everlasting bonds with people who were otherwise total strangers
to me; and of course, I had a lot of fun, to say the least.
The workshops, general sessions, and just conversations overheard were great to
get new ideas for my Club. I hope I can apply these ideas to great success. After all,
the more effective every club, the more lives we save.
The overall atmosphere was amazing. The energy, the lively vibe, the cool
breeze of the beach truly brought us together as a Key Club family. Over pizza on Fri-
day night we poked fun at each other, refused to go to bed without pictures, (after
all, we were all dolled up!) and even shared a few secrets before falling asleep.
Saturday went by in a whirlwind. After the morning workshops, we were already
dreading going back home. We’d made so many memories- we wanted to stay to
make more. So after lunch, we made the best of our location. We took a long walk on
the beach, feeling the sand in our toes and the wind in our hair. Fortunately, I was able
to be a part of the House of Delegates, which also took place that afternoon. The pro-
cess of elections was intriguing; I hope to take part in District Board Elections someday.
As Saturday turned into Sunday, the reality of going back home seemed far
away. After a walk for Eliminate, District Board announcements, and, of course, plenty
of group photos, it was hard to believe we were leaving DCON behind.

For Independence Day, there is no other destination
than Washington D.C! Especially, when you key club
family is there with you, celebrating our nations herit-
age and key club’s service.
Lasting from July 1-7, the trip features concerts, danc-
es, the Newseum, Arlington National Cemetery, Ford’s
Theatre, and the United States Capital. The first night
there will also feature a Washington Nationals baseball
game.
Thousands of key clubbers will go to this event. Work-
shops will be held and fun will be had! The price is also
at an all time low. Only $850! Talk to your advisor or
come to me as soon as possible to get more info!

Hi Key Clubbers!
Every year the New Jersey district of Key Club organiz-
es RTC’s (Regional Training Conferences) in the spring
and the fall. RTC’s are a great opportunity to meet
new people from within your region, attend informa-
tive workshops on various topics about all things Key
Club, and to participate in fun-filled icebreakers. Over-
all, Einstein told me that it is a relatively good event to
attend. Schrodinger told me that there may or may
not be breakfast and lunch and Heisenberg is uncer-
tain as well. Just kidding, there will definitely be break-
fast and lunch served, I’m positive. So when are RTC’s
held?...Periodically of course. This year’s theme for the
RTC’s is “ Experiment with Service”. I was going to do a
pun about Hertz, but I feel as if I do those too frequent-
ly. All the good science jokes Argon. South RTC’s will be
at Cedar Creek from May 11th from 9AM-1PM and
North RTC’s will be at Bloomfield on May 18th from 9AM
-1Pm. So mark your calendars, tell your friends, and get
as excited as an electron can be for this year’s Region-
al Training Conferences!
