Apple: Can be accessed from any Apple

device, usually via iTunes.

Android: Can be accessed from any

Android device, usually via Google Play.

Web-based: Can be accessed from any web-

enabled device (computer, tablet or phone)

via a browser. Not a stand alone app.

FlipboardWhat is it?

A digital magazine in which you

choose the content.

How will it help me?

You can have stories from all your

favorite news sources and social

media sites in the same stream.

What platforms is it available on?

Dropbox

What is it?

Cloud-based storage for your files.


You can save and access your files on

any device.


EvernoteWhat is it?

Cloud based storage for lists and

many types of files.


You can make notes, to-do lists and

attach files (pic, .doc, .xlsx, etc.) that

you can access on any device.


Kahoot!What is it?

A program that allows you to create

quizzes, discussions or surveys, answerable

via phone, tablet or computer.


You can get real time responses from your

students in class.


Note: You can use any web enabled device to

respond.

Poll EverywhereWhat is it?

A polling program that allows response

via text, Twitter or web.


You can get real time responses from

your students in class.


Note: You can use any web or SMS enabled

device to respond.

SocrativeWhat is it?

A program that allows students to

interact via any web-enabled device.


Allows you to get real time responses with

polls, quizzes, exit tickets, etc.


ShowMe Interactive Whiteboard

What is it?

A tutorial creation program.


You can create short whiteboard

tutorials or lessons with voice-over for

your students to view.


PolarisOfficeWhat is it?

Allows you to create and edit Office documents on your device.


Allows you to create and edit Office documents (.docx, .xlsx, .pptx), open and access PDFs, and store work on your Google Drive or Dropbox.


CanvasWhat is it?

CSN’s learning management system.


You can add or edit course content

from any device.


Research

EasybibWhat is it?

Bibliography and citation generator.


You (and your students) can get help

creating citations or bibliographies. The

apps for your device can scan barcodes

on books to create citations.


ZoteroWhat is it?

A citation and research tool.


You can organize your research, keep

track of citations, make a bibliography,

and store copies of articles.


Note: Works on your computer as a browser plug-in. You

can use the web-based version of Zotero on other devices,

which will allow you to access your content by logging in.

OneSearchWhat is it?

A tool that allows you to search the

CSN Libraries collection.


You can search and access almost

everything the library has (articles,

books, films, etc.) with one search.


Note: The library has created a special mobile

version for easy use when accessing via your device.

EBSCO DatabasesWhat is it?

Article databases.


You can search through the library’s

collection of articles.


Note: To access the library’s collection on your

device, you will first need to access EBSCO from the

library’s website, and click “iPhone and Android

apps” at the bottom of the page for setup.

Overdrive Media ConsoleWhat is it?

A collection of ebooks.


You will be able to search through and

“check-out” many (popular) ebooks

and audiobooks from your local public

library (e.g. HDPL, LVCCLD).
