MIGRATING GENIUS® BLOCKS FROM SERIES 90™-70 TO PACSYSTEMS™ RX3I CONTROLLERS
Proficy™ Machine Edition enables the easy migration of Series 90 controllers to PACSystems controllers. However, Series 90-70 Genius Bus Controllers are removed from the hardware configuration when migrating a Series 90-70 to an RX3i. This Application Note describes one technique for moving the Genius devices to RX3i Bus Controllers.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION Proficy Machine Edition supports migrating a Series 90-70 or 90-30 program to PACSystems. Because the 90-70 Genius Bus Controller has more capability than the 90-30 Bus Controller, any migration from 90-70 to RX3i deletes the bus controllers. This occurs whether the 90-70 is first migrated to an RX7i and then to RX3i or if the 90-70 is migrated directly to the RX3i. While this deletion cannot be undone it is feasible to manually move the blocks from a 90-70/RX7i hardware configuration to RX3i hardware. Following are the steps needed to accomplish this.
1. Use Proficy Machine Edition 6.0 or higher. The latest version as this AppNote is being written is 7.0.
2. Open the folder with the 90-70 target. Right-click on the folder name in the
Navigator. Click Open.
