Introduction to Applied Computer
Graphics• This course is a beginner introduction to
computer graphics and Windows 2000• We will work with 2-D graphics as well as
3-D graphics• You will learn how to use Windows 2000,
Publisher XP, Webtricity Simply 3-D, Webtricity Windows Draw and Adobe Photoshop 7.0 .

Supplies you will need
• Six CD-R or Disks• CD-R/RW case holder for all the
free cds you will be getting• Notebook with folder to hold
handout material or wide file folder• You will be able to save on
blackboard with your personal electronic folder.

Attendance Policy
• Attendance is mandatory • If you miss a class your grade
will drop one grade level.A to B 3 hrs.= 3 classes.
• Two absences- your grade drops two levels from an A to C
• Three absences=automatic fail• There are no allowable cuts

Action taken for 3 cuts
• If you get two absences and are in danger of failing, your name will be turned over to the Dean of Communications and the Dean of Academic Affairs for the College and an Interim Grade will be sent.
• You have a right to appeal but not unless you can prove an error was made in your attendance.

Lateness Policy
• Class starts promptly at 6:30pm so plan to be early
• Lateness is anything beyond 6:40 pm and will result in a check. If you come in late make sure Dr. Mead checked you off for being present.
• 3 checks will result in a full cut• Serious lateness beyond 15 minutes
will count a ½ a Cut

No floppies, Burn a CD
• Advantages of a CD over a floppy
• A read-only Cd cannot pick up or spread a virus
• CDs hold 640 megs
• Floppies hold 1.4 megs
• Floppies spread viruses

Terms to learn
• CD-R- means it is unformatted and can read only
• CD-RW-means the CD is formatted to read and write like an extra drive
• Not all cd-rw programs are alike

Burn a CD-RW
• Select the DATA selection
• Burn a DATA disk
• When you remove the disk leave it as a DATA disk
• Do Not format it for all windows systems or it will become a read-only CD.

A Read-Only CD Means
• The CD cannot be changed
• You cannot save to the CD
• You cannot delete a file on the CD
• You can COPY and paste on the HD
• You cannot change the CD

Projects on CD-RW
• All projects are to be kept on a CD-RW disk so that you can save really large graphics files, movie clips, pictures and publications that require a lot of disk space.
• Do not use Floppy disks or Zip disks

How to scan
• Use Adobe Photoshop 7.0 to load the twain driver for the scanner
• After the twain driver is loaded put a picture in the scanner.
• Run the temporary scan first• Adjust the crop size of the picture• Run the Final Scan version• Saveas .jpg
