Wedding photography.• Where does their work come from?

To start your career as a wedding photographer, you need experience to get hired but you cannot get hired with out experience. An easy way to get started is to do some second shooting, where you follow the professional around gaining experience. As long as people are still getting married wedding photographers will always have work.

• How do they make their money? The amount of money a photographer earns on the shoot all depends on how good their show reel and previous shoots are. Most clients pay between £1000-£1500 for the services being provided. A lot of wedding photographers own their own independent business's, this ensures that they earn a substantial salary each year. Not everyone owns their own business meaning they are freelancers and get to choose how much they ask for and what jobs to work on. Miki photography has wedding photography packages for sale where as Michelle is gaining experience so she doesn't’t make any money.

• What is the purpose of their photography? The purpose of having a wedding photographer is so that everyone can have a good time at the wedding, and everyone is in the photographs . Having to take the pictures yourself means you wont be any because your too busy taking them of everyone else.

• Where are their photographs used? After the photographs have been taken, edited and given back to the clients on a CD-ROM, they can do as they please. Most people print they, put them in frames or send to friends/relatives who couldn’t make it on the day. With the permission of the clients the photographer can put their images on his/her website, show reel and portfolio to help them get more jobs in the future. Miki uploads his photographs to his website, social media and send them to publishers, and Michelle just puts them online to try and get more work.

• How do the photographs affect the viewers? It all depends on who the viewer is and the relation to the people getting married. For example if it’s the parents of the bride it can bring a tear to their eyes. They will bring back happy memory's for the newly wed couple and for generations to come to find out who their ancestors are.

The happy couple are in the middle of the rule of thirds.

The wedding car is the only bright coloured item in the picture which makes it stand out.

The couple are in a shallow depth of field.Meaning the background isn't in focus but the couple is in focus. Its all natural lighting.

The church door acts like a frame for their faces.

Michelle’s photographySecond shooter/ experience gainerFor my brothers wedding in December 2012, him and his soon to be wife decided to let their friend be their photographer as she needed experience. She didn’t cost them anything because she was just gaining experience, but in my opinion she didn’t grasp the right pictures to have amazing memory's of the beautiful day captured.

Andrea isn't in the center of the photograph.

Flash too bright, makes skin look oily.

Good composition .

Goes against the rule of thirds.

Critically assessing the two different photographers.

• Miki offers a range of different shots, angles, depth of field and contrasts where as Michelle just took bog standard pictures.

• The main difference between the two photographers, apart from the price and picture quality is the professionalism. Miki seems like the kind of person who comes to get the job done but because Michelle knows my brother she got drunk and forgot to take photographs.

• Miki’s photographs all have different location, some have light graffiti and some capture real moments of weddings E.G babies screaming. Michelle's pictures got very consistent, from the same angles, no pictures in a different location.

• Miki’s photography have a high contrast compared to Michelle’s photographs which are flat, lacking in contrast.

• In my opinion Miki’s photographs are much more professional, colourful and crisp. I would be more likely to hire a professional who comes with a secondary photographer, rather than just a secondary photographer to get professional photographs.

Celebrity photography.• Where does their work come from?

Photographers who photograph celebrities get their jobs from having an amazing show reel and portfolio. If they are known for being an amazing photographer than all the celebrities want them to take their photos in their next shoot. The majority of jobs they work on are weddings and promotion for a new album, film or merchandise which the celebrities are working on bring out.

• How do they make their money? Most celebrity portrait photographers make their money from commission. Some may get loyalty's depending on what kind of contact they signed when they agreed to do the shoot.

• What is the purpose of their photography? Most of the time the pictures are taken to entertain the target audience. This is because there are some die hard fans and always like to see new pictures of them and update their fan pages/blogs. Another purpose is to promote, if a celebrity brings out a fashion range, album, product or film, the photographs are used to get the audiences attention to go and buy/watch what it is they are bringing out.

• Where are their photographs used? The photographs taken (depending on the motive for why they are being taken), will be used across a number of multi-media platforms. For example if a celebrity has just got married/engaged the photographs will be used in magazines, newspapers and on the internet. If the shoot was to promote a new song or a film the photographs will be printed and put on billboards and bus stops.

• How do the photographs affect the viewer?A lot of celebrity photographs affect the viewers in a good positive way. Some fans will change their hair colour just like their idol and they might even buy the production that he/she is trying to endorse. A handful of photographs have a bad affect on teenagers ,making them feel insecure about their body's compared to the ‘beautiful’ photoshopped idea of perfection.

David LaChapellehttp://www.lachapellestudio.com/

David LaChapelle is an American celebrity and product photographer. His reputation as a photographer is often most remembered for his reference to art history and his work sometimes conveys social messages.

He has worked with some of the most know celebrity's in the world, either just doing standard shoots or by doing product endorsement.

La Chapelle has won awards for Best Photographer of the year in 1995 and since then was been getting more and more famous.

A on running theme in his photography is illusions of what is real.

At the beginning of his career he was given a budget that he had to work with and if he went over the budget he would have to pay for it out of his own pocket.

His work is often shown in galleries.

Daniel Kennedyhttp://www.danielkennedy.com/

Daniel Kennedy is a British celebrity wedding photographer. He doesn’t only take wedding photo’s, he is regularly commissioned in the UK and US to shoot for advertising clients, magazines and celebrity agents. Working on celebrity shoots he has met and worked with the likes of:• Fearne Cotton• Angelina Jolie• Kate Winslet• Nick Grimshaw• David Beckham• And David Walliams.

He has worked for numerous publications such as:• BBC• ITV• SKY NEWS• Lacoste

Critical assessment of two photographers.

• Both photographer’s images both are crisp and of a high quality.• The main difference is the style of the photographs, Daniel Kennedy captures the

celebrity’s in a way which really shows the audience who they are and what kind of personalitys they have for example the picture of Darren Brown. Doing this gives the audience a good insight to who the celebritys are, where as LaCapelle’s photographs give the audience a false idea of who they are. On the other hand David LaChapelle uses backgrounds and setting to give the image a twist and make them really stand off the page/screen, for example the picture of Alesha Keys.

• LaChapelle uses vibrant background and other people to give the pictures more substance compare to Kennedy’s style of capturing the celebrity’s on a plain backdrop.

• LaChapelles pictures are more entertaining, colourful and impressive than Kennedys portfolio style photographs.

• I would rather hang a photograph up in my house which was taken by Daniel Kennedy just because the are more suitable for a wider audience.

• So in comparison, I feel like David LaChapelle has much more fun with his work when he's creating & capturing his photographs but Daniel Kennedy trys to give the audience a real sense of who the celebrity's are, because at the end of the day everyones human.
