We are interested in learning more about your commitment to public service and how you bring your experiences to bear to make an impact on the communities and organizations you aspire to serve.

Video Essay (Optional, but strongly recommended)Members of the NYU Wagner community – our students, faculty, and staff – are passionate about public service. Create a video of no longer than one (1) minute in length that describes a unique perspective, skill set, or life experience you have. Articulate how it might benefit your classmates, enhance discourse in the classroom, and/or contribute to the NYU Wagner community. Please note that the video must be of the applicant.

Instructions on how to submit your Video Essay:

Please upload your video to an easily accessible website (such as, for example, YouTube). Record the URL in the designated area in the online application and provide access information in the space provided. Please note, it is the applicant’s responsibility to correctly configure the security and access settings for the video. We recommend that the applicant use the strongest privacy settings available while still allowing access to NYU Wagner. For instance, if using YouTube, we suggest using the “Unlisted Video” setting so that only individuals who have the URL can view it. The applicant is also responsible for adhering to the terms and conditions of the website used to share the video essay. For admitted applicants who attend the program, NYU Wagner will retain a short excerpt or screen shot of the video as a part of the official student record.We are unable to watch videos that come in any form other than a URL link. We will not accept videos sent by email or on DVD through the mail.

RESUME (REQUIRED)

Please upload a resume or CV that includes your employment and professional history in reverse chronological order, with titles, dates, and whether you worked part-time or full-time. Your educational record should also be in reverse chronological order and should indicate dates of attendance and degree(s) earned. We encourage you to include information about the following additional activities:

• Volunteer, public service, political, and/or civic work you have done;

LETTERS OF RECOMMENDATION (REQUIRED)

Please submit no more than two (2) letters of recommendation from individuals who can speak best to your academic and professional achievements and potential. We strongly prefer a balance of academic and professional sources. Letters of recommendation must be submitted through the online application system. We do not accept mailed recommendations. Recommenders are required to complete the online evaluation form. Their response to the recommendation questions may be in either letter or short answer format and should not exceed two pages each.

TRANSCRIPTS (REQUIRED)

Please scan and upload a copy of your unofficial transcript(s) into the online application. We require a transcript from all colleges, professional schools and universities attended, including non-degree programs. Transcripts submitted after the application deadline will not be accepted. Please review your application prior to submission to ensure that all necessary documents are submitted.

All transcripts should include degree conferred and conferral date, if applicable. If you submit your application prior to the conferral of your bachelor’s degree or equivalent, we will accept and evaluate your application. If an offer of admission is made, it will be contingent upon conferral of your degree prior to enrollment.

Transcript Verification Process:

Applicants admitted to the program will be required to provide an official transcript from each undergraduate institution that you have attended, including the degree conferring institution. Any discrepancy between the scanned transcripts and official transcripts may result in withdrawal of our offer of admission.

Transcripts for institutions located outside of the United States:

If you received a graduate or undergraduate degree from an institution that is located outside of the United States, you are required to use a third party International Credential Evaluation service to assess U.S. bachelor’s equivalency and obtain a course-by-course evaluation to ensure that you

are eligible prior to applying. Third party evaluations allow NYU Wagner to process your applications more efficiently. NYU Wagner waives the application fee for applicants who submit their academic transcripts using a third party international credentials evaluator.

Please make your nonrefundable application fee of $85 payable to New York University. Credit card and check/money order are accepted.

Fee Waivers:

NYU Wagner will waive the application fee for all applicants who have participated in AmeriCorps, PPIA, the Peace Corps and Teach for America. Please upload documentation of your participation in these programs before you submit your application.

NYU Wagner will waive the application fee for all candidates that submit their academic transcripts to us via a third party international credentials evaluator. Please indicate that you have utilized an international credential evaluator service in the Invoice section of the application.

NYU Wagner will waive the application fee for all applicants to the African Women’s Public Service Fellowship that meet the program eligibility requirements. Applicants must meet be citizens and resident in an African country at the time of application in order to receive a fee waiver.

NYU Wagner will waive the application fee for applicants who have served in the U.S. Military or National Guard. Please upload documentation of your military service before you submit your application.

NYU Wagner’s Executive MPA programs help seasoned, mid-career professionals prepare for the highest levels of public service leadership. While there are no fixed requirements regarding age and work experience, on average our most recent incoming class reflected the following characteristics:

BA/MPA

The BA/MPA program is open to NYU undergraduate students of any major currently enrolled in the College of Arts and Science, the Gallatin School of Individualized Study or the Global Liberal Studies Program. Students may complete a maximum 28 of the 60 credits for the MPA while they are still undergraduates. These 28 credits may be a combination of Wagner graduate and undergraduate courses or their CAS equivalents; students must earn a B or better in all Wagner or equivalent courses in order for these to be applied to the MPA. Dual-degree students must complete all requirements of their major as well as College-wide requirements prior to matriculating at Wagner.

BA/MUP

The BA/MUP program is open to CAS undergraduates in one of six relevant majors: Economics, International Relations, Metropolitan Studies, Politics, Sociology, and Urban Design. Students may complete a maximum 28 of the 60 credits required for the MUP while they are still undergraduates. These 28 credits may be a combination of Wagner graduate courses or their CAS equivalents; students must earn a grade of B or better in all Wagner or equivalent courses in order for these to be applied to the MUP. Dual-degree students must complete all requirements of their major as well as College-wide requirements for the BA prior to matriculating at Wagner.

DEFERRAL

Once admitted to Wagner, CAS students have the option of deferring matriculation for up to two years after they complete the BA in order to gain critical experience in the field.

Gallatin and GLS students have a mandatory one-year deferral requirement for after they complete the BA in order to meet the Professional Experience requirement.

BA/MPA AND BA/MUP DUAL DEGREES

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The dual MBA/MPA degree Program allows you to pursue simultaneously an MBA from the NYU Stern School of Business and an MPA degree from NYU Wagner. The dual MBA/MPA degree program at NYU Wagner and NYU Stern can be completed in three years (44 credits at NYU Wagner/51 credits at NYU Stern):

• First year in residence at NYU Stern• Second year in residence at NYU Wagner• Third year with one semester at each school

Applicants who wish to pursue the dual degree option must be admitted to and enrolled in both programs. Applicants may apply to both programs in the same year. Current NYU Stern MBA students may apply to NYU Wagner during their first year of study at NYU Stern. Similarly, current NYU Wagner MPA students may apply to the NYU Stern full-time MBA program during their first year of study.

Please note that NYU Wagner MPA students interested in applying to the dual degree program with NYU Stern should immediately contact Student and Program services immediately to discuss course selection and the fulfillment of core requirements.

MBA/MPA JOINT APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants to the dual MBA/MPA degree program must complete a joint application that is evaluated independently by each school. While no additional admissions standards are applied to dual degree applications at either school, students qualify for the dual degree program only upon admission to both NYU Stern and NYU Wagner. Please note that it is possible to be admitted to both programs, only one program, or neither program in this process.

DUAL MBA/MPA DEGREE PROGRAM (NYU STERN SCHOOL OF BUSINESS)

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

The dual JD/MPA or JD/MUP degree program allows you to pursue simultaneously a JD from the NYU School of Law and an MPA from NYU Wagner. The dual JD/MPA or JD/MUP degree program at NYU Wagner and NYU School of Law can be completed in four years (44 credits at NYU Wagner/71 credits at the NYU School of Law):

• First year in residence at the NYU School of Law• Second year in residence at the NYU School of Law• Third year in residence at NYU Wagner• Fourth year with one semester at each school

Applicants who wish to pursue the dual degree option must be admitted to and enrolled in both programs. Applicants may apply concurrently to both programs. Alternatively, current NYU law students may apply to NYU Wagner during their first year of study at the NYU School of Law.

JD/MPA OR JD/MUP JOINT APPLICATION PROCESS

Applicants to the dual JD/MPA or JD/MUP degree program must complete a joint application that is evaluated independently by each school. While no additional admissions standards are applied to dual degree applications at either school, students qualify for the dual degree program only upon admission to both NYU School of Law and NYU Wagner. Please note that it is possible to be admitted to both programs, only one program, or neither program in this process.

The dual MD/MPA degree programs allow you to pursue simultaneously an MD from the NYU School of Medicine and an MPA degree from NYU Wagner. The dual MD/MPA degree program at NYU Wagner and the NYU School of Medicine can be completed in five years.

The dual MPA/MA degree programs allow you to pursue simultaneously an MA in in Hebrew and Judaic Studies from the Skirball Program and an MPA degree from NYU Wagner. The dual MPA/MA degree program at NYU Wagner and the MA program at Skirball can be completed in three years (52 credits at NYU Wagner/24 credits at GSAS Skirball). The Skirball program also includes a Hebrew language requirement, as well as comprehensive exams:

TEST SCORES
