Queensland Health facilitates an annual state-wide campaign to recruit resident medical officers

(RMOs) and registrars for positions within Hospital and Health Services (HHSs) across the State.

Specialist medical colleges, Queensland Health facilities, vocational training pathways, networks and

central allocation training programs (recruiting entities) run their own meritorious recruitment process

from their pool of applicants. If you are applying for or have been accepted onto an accredited training

program with a specialist medical college, you will still need to submit an online RMO application.

Applications to the following position levels are accepted via the RMO campaign:

• Provisional Fellowship Year (PFY)

• Registrars (incl. trainees)

• Principal House Officers (PHOs)

• Senior House Officers (SHOs)

• Junior House Officers (JHOs)

Applicants MUST review all the information in the RMO website prior to completing an application:

• Campaign dates (referee reports due date, cut offs, offer dates, preference rounds etc.)

• How the campaign works

• How to apply

• Application documentation

• Trainees/registrars and PHOs need to review the following webpages:

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT THE APPLICATION

When completing an online RMO application there are a number of things to remember:

• red asterisk (*) denotes a mandatory question, which must be completed in order to proceed

• DO NOT use CAPS Lock when completing your application; use Sentence Case only.

• If your application has been prepopulated, various uploads may already be attached. To check

the uploaded file, click on the ‘file name’ and download.

• Files uploaded to your application must be saved in PDF format with a maximum file size being

5MB.

• After completing an application step, you have the option to ‘Save and Continue’ at the bottom

of the page and proceed to the next screen or ‘Save’ if you want to exit your application and

come back at a later time.

• If you need to contact the RMO coordinator, email [email protected] with

the relevant details. Please allow up to two (2) business days for the amendments to be

actioned. Emails will be actioned by the RMO Coordinator in order of receipt.

• Throughout your application you will note that there are a number of ‘Note:’ to assist you with

completing your application. If you click on the red link, you will be able to open the webpage or

document for further information.

MY RMO APPLICATION REGISTRATION Before commencing an application, you have the option to ‘view’ the application questions, clicking on

‘Preview Application Form.’ You also have the option to ‘Access Existing Application’ or ‘Start New

Application.’

PREVIOUS YEAR APPLICANTS

If you applied through either the Intern or RMO campaign in a previous year, DO NOT start a new

application. To access your previous campaign registration details and certain pre-populated

information, follow the steps straight after you click on ‘Start New Application.’ Enter your email and

the password you used for your PREVIOUS year application and click Login.

RESETTING YOUR PASSWORD

3. Complete the required fields and click ‘Submit’. A link to reset your password will be sent

to your registered email address.

REGISTRATION FOR NEW APPLICANTS

To commence a new application, click ‘Start New Application.’ An information page and terms and

conditions page will appear.

In order to proceed with your application, you must read, understand and accept the terms and

conditions set out. You will then be directed to the registration page as shown below:

To proceed through the application, complete all mandatory fields and click ‘Save and Next.’

Take note of your login details for future access to the application and the information previously

uploaded.

PATHWAY SECTION

All applicants seeking specialty training positions in Queensland MUST apply via the RMO campaign.

As detailed above, Queensland Health offers a centralised recruitment and selection process for a

number of training programs but not all.

Applicants need to review the Specialty training programs page on the RMO website for further

clarification as to the ‘entity’ that conducts the recruitment, selection and allocation for your preferred

specialty. The three options include recruit and selection processes conducted directly by;

• the Specialist medical

• a Queensland Health accredited training facility

• a Queensland training pathway, network or program

Queensland Health vocational training pathways, networks and central programs manage the

recruitment, selection and allocation of training positions and require you to complete specific questions

within the RMO campaign application. These specialty programs include;

• Anaesthesia

• Basic paediatric

• Basic physician

• Cardiology

• Endocrinology

• Gastroenterology

• General medicine

• General paediatric

• Geriatric medicine

• Haematology (laboratory and clinical)

• Infectious diseases

• Intensive care medicine

• Medical oncology

• Neonatal and perinatal medicine

• Nephrology

• Palliative medicine

• Pathology

• Radiation oncology

• Respiratory medicine

Once you have successfully lodged your RMO application (including any specific application

requirements for your preferred training program) you will be consider for placement according to the

established process for that program. Upon selection, an employment contract would be formalised

with the relevant Queensland Health facility.

STEP 10: PREFERENCES

The campaign offers applicants the opportunity to preference up to five positions of choice within the

preferences section of the online RMO application. Complete by preferencing your preferred facility,

position level, specialty and sub-specialty (if applicable) from one (1) to five (5); with 1 being your

highest preference and 5 being your lowest preference.

Applicants are unable to preference six-month rotations at two different facilities. If you wish to apply for

multiple rotations, you should arrange these positions directly with the facilities involved or the training

program coordinator. In this instance, you should preference the facility for the first six months as your

first preference and the facility for the second six months as your second preference.

Searching for Training positions:

To search for training positions (registrar), please refer to the Specialty training program webpage and

review the preference guides within this section.

Searching for PHO, SHO and JHO vacancies:

To search for these vacancies, please refer to the Position search tool on the RMO website and from

your search results, complete preferences one to five or refer to your training pathway/program.

REFEREE DETAILS

Prior to clicking ‘Save and continue,’ ensure you have contacted your nominated referees and they

have consented to supplying you with a reference. Once you save and continue past this page, an

email will be automatically forwarded to your referees to complete a reference for you.

APPLICATION FORM ASSISTANCE

The last section of the application is the consent page.

REVIEW AND EDIT APPLICATION

Once you complete the application you will be directed to the ‘Review and Edit’ screen:

The progression bar will show a tick for each section you have completed. If a section does not have a

tick, you will need to go back to that page to review and complete the required fields.

Review your application and if you need to make any changes click on the ‘Edit’ button. Remember to

click ‘Save and Continue’ when you have edited each section.

SUBMITTING MY APPLICATION

Once you are ready to submit your application click ‘Submit Application Now’ at the top of the page

and the page option to ‘Submit Now’ or ‘Submit Later’ will appear. Selecting ‘Submit Later’ will only be

saved your application and you will need to log back and click on the ‘Submit Now’ for your application

to be lodged successfully.

Note: You are able to edit your application until the closing date of the campaign.

Once your application is submitted successfully, ‘Application Status: Complete and Submitted’ will

appear at the top of your page and confirmation will also be sent to your email address.

Note: You will need to ensure you complete and submit your application by the campaign closing date

in order for your application to be considered.

MANAGING MY RMO APPLICATION

ACCESS YOUR APPLICATION

You can access your existing application any time by accessing the Application Portal link on the RMO

campaign website. This will open the campaign page, click on the ‘Login’ icon and enter your email

address and password.

MY APPLICATION OPTIONS

Once logged in, click on ‘My Applications’ from My Applications drop down list next to the ‘Logout’ icon.

• My Applications – view your current application/s

• My Forms – Not used

• My Emails – list of emails sent and received

• My Tests – Not used

• My Interviews – Not used

• Registration Details – view and amend registration details, email address and password

VIEWING APPLICATION/S

To view your application/s, click on ‘My Applications’ from My Applications drop down list. If you are a

new applicant you will see your current RMO application however if you have applied to the intern or

previous RMO campaigns, all your applications will appear in this section.

EDITING YOUR PERSONAL DETAILS

To amend personal details, click on ‘My Applications’ from My Applications drop down list:

select ‘View my application summary’

• click on ‘Edit Personal Details’

• amend the required information and click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page for the details to

update

After the closing date of the campaign, you will be able to edit the following details of your application:

AMENDING REGISTRATION DETAILS

To amend registration details, click on ‘Registration Details’ from My Applications drop down list,

amend the required information and click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page for the details to update.

EMAIL RECORDS SENT AND RECEIVED

At any time, you are able to view emails received. To view, click ‘My Emails’ from My Applications drop

down list and view the emails by clicking on the links.

WITHDRAWING MY APPLICATION

You have the option to withdraw your application at any stage of the campaign. To withdraw, click ‘My

Applications’ from My Applications drop down list:

• select ‘View my application summary’ and

• click on ‘Withdraw Application’

Note: Applications can only be ‘reinstated’ by emailing the RMO Campaign Coordinator via RMO-

[email protected].

RE-PREFERENCE MY RMO APPLICATION

During set rounds of the campaign, an email will be sent to applicants who did not receive an offer of

employment. The email contains an attachment with a list of remaining vacancies and instructions on

how to amend your preferences for subsequent offers. Below is a summary of the Recruitment Rounds

and for specific dates and time refer to the Campaign dates page.

Note: If you are applying for a training position via a college process or Queensland pathway, network

or central program, amending your preferences during the Re-preference Round will not remove you

from that recruitment process undertaken by that entity.

To re-preference, login to your online application and click on ‘My Applications’ from My Applications

drop down list:

• ‘View ‘My application summary’

• click on ‘Edit Personal Details’

• scroll down the page and amend your preferences; and

• click ‘Save’ at the bottom of the page for the details to update.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)

Q. Do I have to complete my application in any particular order?

A. You can complete your application in any order, however, it is suggested that you complete your

application start to finish.

Q. I have just registered and am completing my application, is it possible to log-out and

complete my application at another time?

A. You are permitted to make changes to your application up until the closing date of the campaign.

You can log back in using your email address and the password at any time.

Q. How do I list my preferences if I have more than 5 preferences?

A. Applicants only have 5 available preferences, you must contact the facility you are interested and

make the correct decision.

Q. Can I make changes to my preferenced facilities after the close date?

A. You are only permitted to make changes to your preferenced facilities up until the closing date of

the campaign. There are however Re-preferencing Rounds held for applicants that were not

successful in securing a position. An email detailing how to change preferences and dates will be

sent to these applicants.

Q. How do I preference rotations?

A. There is no section in the application to show six-month rotations at two different facilities.

Applicants applying for a rotation should arrange their circumstances directly with both facilities

involved to ensure they are aware of the rotation. Please enter your facility of choice for the first six

month as first preference and the second six month as second preference.

Q. My referee hasn’t received the email notification? What do I do?

A. If you have completed the referee section of your application, double check that the email entered

is correct. If incorrect, amend and click ‘Save.’ If correct, please make contact with the RMO Campaign

Coordinator at [email protected].

Q. When will my referees be sent the request to provide a report?

A. An automatic email notification will be sent to your referee after you press ‘Save and Continue’ on

the Referee page of the application.

Q. How will I know when my referee has submitted the referee reports?

A. An automatic email notification will be sent to you to advise that the report has been completed and

attached to your application once your referee has uploaded the report.

Q. How long does my referee have to complete the referee report?

A. Depending on the positions level you are applying for, due dates differ. If you are applying via a

Queensland Health central allocation program, network or pathway, please refer to the program

webpage for more information. PHO and Registrars have until Sunday, 7 July and SHO/JHO

applicants have until Sunday, 1 September 2019 however the sooner that a referee completes the

report the better.

Q. Why do I need to submit an application if I have already been accepted onto a training

program?

A. Acceptance on to a college training program is an arrangement between an individual and the

relevant college and is not a contract of employment with a particular facility. Vocational trainees

are still required to complete the necessary arrangements to formalise their employment with a

Queensland Health facility, as a facility is a separate body to the college. For further information
