APPLE TV FOR 2013?My Premise:● The current Apple TV box is not a satisfactory

solution because:○ When a person buys a new TV, they now

come with Smart TV functions - the Apple box ends up in the rubbish bin;

○ Apple is not the sort of company that is satisfied plugging their hardware into another manufacturers screen (they love their screens!).

○ 2013 is the battle of the digital living room!

THE RISKS

● TV screens are expensive to manufacture - and have low margins - COULD APPLE PRODUCE SOMETHING COSTS EFFECTIVE AND MAINTAIN THEIR FAVOURABLE MARGINS?

● TV manufacturers are suffering already ... lots of risk.

● The market is crowded.● Is it old tech? - are screens going to end being

thin clients? the OS resident on the web?

OTHER STRATEGIES

● Apple could be content creating a content ecosystem for large screens - as per Apple TV.

● Apple,could, like Google be content with a dual strategy of the TV Box - plus working with specific manufacturers (like Samsung in Google's case) to back in the ecosystem straight into the TV.
