Mr L Matthews Recreation & Open Spaces Manager Isle of Wight Council County Hall High Street NEWPORT, Isle of Wight PO30 1UD Date – TBC Dear Mr Matthews Re: Public Spaces Protection Order (PSPO) – comment on proposals Bembridge Parish Council has considered your letter and proposals for the PSPO. Bembridge Parish Council would support overall the PSPO proposals but would not support the restrictions of preventing Horse riding on the beaches. Horse riders are vulnerable road users and there are few Bridleways that link up in Bembridge. The beach offers safe riding. There are at present no dog restrictions on the beaches in Bembridge and we would not support any being put in place. Yours sincerely Mrs J McDade Clerk to Bembridge Parish Council

Improvements to the junction of Station Road and Kings Road - Recommendations For Full Council IWC/Island Roads have presented Bembridge PC with two options for the improvements to the junction of Kings Road and Station Road. To see the full plans for both options presented by Island Roads see maps appended to end of this report. Island Roads will expect the Parish Council to meet the costs of the initial capital works and on-going maintenance charges to the end of the PFI contract.

Option Scheme Approx. costs*

1 Proposed grass verges either side of the junction. £9000 initial capital + £2200 on-going maintenance to the end of the contract (approx. £110 per annum).

2 Proposed line of reflective bollards along both sides of the carriageway and white hatched marking.

£4000 initial capital + £4000 on-going maintenance to the end of the contract (approx. £200 per annum).

*on-going maintenance costs pegged to RPIx.

Recommendation: from Chair of Road Safety & Security Group is for Option 2. The Parish Council will need to consider and agree how these works will be financed – both capital expenditure and on-going costs – as part of the 2019/20 budget.

Mr G. Stretch Isle of Wight Council PFI Contract Management Team County Hall High Street Newport, Isle of Wight PO30 1UD Date TBC Dear Mr Stretch Priorities from Network Integrity Register – Bembridge Parish Council At a meeting of the Parish Council held on 20th November 2018 it was resolved to agree the following priorities, specified in the table below, from the existing requests held on the Isle of Wight Council/Island Roads Network Integrity Register.

Your ref Street/Location Request

422/2015 Embankment Road Improvements to make the bus stop safer on Embankment Road outside the yacht club.

49/2016 Foreland Road “Extend the double yellow lines from Elm House opposite The Polars to the bus stop. This will avoid parking on both sides of the road, which is causing traffic delays, making it difficult to use the exit from the medical centre and nursing home as well as for the buses moving off from the bus stop.”

686/2014 Sandown Road “Review location of 40mph sign to make it safer for residents.” Concerns expressed about concealed entrances used by children and horses. Revision of the location of the sign to improve safety.

Traffic Regulation Order reviews In addition to addressing these outstanding issues, the Parish Council still wishes to see all the following Traffic Regulation Order reviews and proposals implemented as priorities – as per the email from Samantha O’Rourke dated 7th December 2017.
