By promoting an instrumental album and a documentary about the

history of the band, Synthesis in December 2010 celebrated the 15

years existence on Macedonian and international cultural scene. SYN-

THESIS is a band that combines the roots of Macedonian folk music

heritage with contemporary arrangements, using full range of original

Macedonian instruments, like kaval, gaida, zurla, tapan, tarabuka and

tambura. Powerful and explosive, SYNTHESIS is the most exported

Macedonian world music project. In addition of the support for cul-

tural events in 2010 Apollonia group also supported this last project

of Synthesis - issuing the instrumental CD. The cooperation between

Apollonia and these ambassadors of the Macedonian authentic music was established long ago. “In the moments when

our band really needed support we have always found it with Apol-

lonia. In times like these when the author rights, sales and other in-

comes are minor one band like Synthesis can not rely just on that fi-

nancial support in order to continue it’s mission which is promoting

Macedonian culture all over the world, so the support from compa-

nies, institutions and foundations like Apollonia are a big significance

to keep the continuum of cultural activities in Macedonia and abroad

” says Marjan Jovanovski from Synthesis. For their achievements and

February for Nature Day kids was month reserved educationally for reducing, reusing and recycling . We started

of at Gronicet by organizing activities and games that will make the kids easily understand how long different materials

decompose, how can we reuse our plastic bottles for bowling, how to reduce the use of water and what can be recycled

in Gevgelija. The following week we visited the recycling site - private company Bliznak kom, and there the kids had the

opportunity to see how the selected plastic is prepared for recycling. On the third week all the kids made their own post-

ers with massage that they wanted to share with the other kids that go to school in Negorci. They asked permission from

their teachers to hang those posters in the school so that they motivate and teach other kids how to behave with nature.

And to end the month successfully we organized cleaning action in the school in

Negorci in which around 40 kids participated. We had contest in groups who will

collect more garbage, and as always we selected the plastic bottles in blue bags

and put them in the plastic recycling bins in Gevgelija.

Every month in Nature Day

we work with the kids on

several environmental

themes and from all the ac-

tivities that we had in Febru-

ary we may say that it was a very successful month. We are very

proud with the kids because the initiative to improve the conditions

in Negorci school with this posters campaign came from their ideas.

Zoran Madzirov with new CD

„Roots From The Roof : Balkano Nuevo“ is the new CD of the well know

Macedonian musician and composer Zoran Madzirov that was promoted in

November 2010. On this CD he plays on his standard instruments vibraphone,

xylophone and bottles, for what he is recognized not only in Macedonia but

also beyond our borders. “After a long work abroad, I decided to create a

product that reflects the Macedonian music. Here again I kept jazz sounds, but

in a different setting. This is practically going back to our musical roots and

trying to give a new view of the Macedonian music” - says Zoran Madžirov for

his new musical creation. What’s very interesting is that in February the world-

renowned magazine for jazz music “Jazz times " in its latest issue published review on this album. Here is part of the re-

view of Wilbert Sostre: “Madzirov great technique and glimmering melodies shines all through the album especially on

"Balkan Vulkan", "Butchers Changes", "Cheese under lid" and in the Balkan sounds of "The Long Longing" with clarinetist

Zoran Kraguevski adding some good improvisations.” You can read the whole article on the following link: http://

jazztimes.com/community/articles/27174-cd-review-zoran-madzirov-roots-on-a-roof-balkano-nuevo. One of the activi-

ties that Apollonia group had in 2010 and refers to culture is also supporting this project of Madzirov.
