Location
MA5600 occupies 6 DIN modules (105 mm), must be installed in a dedicated panel, away from possible
sources of interference (contactors, switching power).
Power Supply
Devices with different supply voltage are available: 12 VDC or extended (15-36 VDC or 12-24 VAC).
In case of extended power supply 15-36 VDC, it is recommended 24 VDC.
In case of AC power, before powering the device, verify that the output voltage from the transformer does
not exceed 26 V.
Each MA5600 absorbs 500 mA.
The cable section must be calculated based on the number of MA5600 to be powered and the distance from
the power unit.
The power supply for the electric-locks must be separated from the power supply of the terminals, the BUS
cable and the badge reader cable.

InteroperabilityInteroperabilityInteroperabilityInteroperability
The Company Apice, LONMARK member and active in the security task group, paied always
attention to the interoperability. The high quantity of the HW resources did not gone against
the structure organized by LONMARKobjects. MA5600, in the two main applications, has in
total 18 and 23 objects.
The below table shows the list of the objects present in the two main applications. The Room app. is dedi-
cated to the management of generic room as an office or a residential area, the Hotel app. is for a Hotel
room.

Hardware resourcesHardware resourcesHardware resourcesHardware resources Balanced Inputs:
IN1, IN2 and IN3 inputs are qualified to link NC and
NO contacts, with balanced or double balanced line.
The configuration of the input type is selectable via
SW.
• Digital configuration NO:
• Digital configuration NC:
• Balanced line configuration:
• Double balanced line configuration:
Note for the manual configuration:
When the node has not been configured yet
(service LED flashes), pushing for more 3 sec. the
push-button, with the inputs in st.by. The input type
configuration will happen automatically, so it is pos-
sible for the technician to test immediately the cor-
rect wiring. This configuration will be saved on the
node until the technician will procede to install the
SW of the node.

On/off input:
The input 4 of the device enables to interface an
ON/OFF contact.
Smoke sensor input:
There are two different models of the equipment
according with the managing of the smoke sensor.
There is the direct management and the manage-
ment by means the auxiliary output of the sensor
LED.
Direct management of the smoke sensors:
The direct management can be made when anti-
fire certifications are not required. It allows to drive
directly up to six smoke sensors with Voltage = 12 V.
When there is an alarm, the sensor remains in alarm
until there is a reset command that takes off power
supply to the sensors. The disconnection of a sensor
will become an alarm.
Sensors management by means the LED output:
Collecting the LED auxiliary output from smoke sen-
sors of anti-fire existing system, it is possible to have
the punctual supervision of the sensors.
In this case the smoke sensor input is completely
isolated from the rest of electronic system and it
doesn’t interfere with anti-fire system. The input is
seen by the sensor as a normal LED with a limitation
resistor, as in the below picture.
Lux input:
This input directly interfaces a light sensor
(photodiode BPW21).
Light, Power and Aux outputs:
These three NO outputs include a power 16 A relais
(100 A peak) suitable even to drive directly fluores-
cent lamps. On the front of the device a LED indi-
cates the output status and a push-button allows a
manual test of each relais.
Door output:
This output includes a second relais and it is nor-
mally used to drive an electric lock or an automatic
system. The max. working voltage is 48 VDC. Also in
this case, on the front panel a LED indicates the
relais status and a push-button allows a manual
test.

Fan output:
This is a 0-10 VDC analog output that allows to
drive directly a valve or a device to control the
warm.
By means a suitable interface it is possible to
change this output in a command for three veloci-
ties or three velocities command + Valve.
Dimmer output:
This is a 0-10 VDC analog output that allows to
drive a dimmer for lighting regulation.
Reader connector:
This connector interfaces a magnetic or proximity
ISO Clock+Data card reader, a LED to indicate the
status that the card has been read, a LED tipically
used to give information as DON’T DISTURB/BUSY
and an input to be used as call pushbutton.
Using a reader PX05-BA, it is possible to have a di-
rect connection.
To use another type of reader, we suggest to use
the front end board PL8M that allows to collect the
8 contacts.
Temperature connector:
This connector interfaces a module for the tem-
perature measurement and setpoint regulation. It
includes a LED to indicate the status of the air-
conditioning system and a buzzer to repeat the call
signal or an alarm signalling. An input and an auxil-
iary output can be used for the status DON’T DIS-
TURB/BUSY.
LON connector:
This is the connector to connect the LonWorks FTT-
10 network. The line has not polarity. For more infor-
mation, please refer to Echelon specs.
