Profit per unit for Transistor is Rs. 40 & Capacitor is Rs. Rs. 60. One unit of transistor requires 1 hr on M1, 2 hrs on M2 & 1 hr on M3. One unit of capacitor needs 1 hr each on M1 & M2 & 3 hrs on M3. Availability of resources is M1 – 40 hrs, M2 – 70 hrs & M3 – 90 hrs. Formulate as LPP & solve by simplex method. (Ans: x1 = 15, x2 = 25, Z = Rs. 2100) 2. A company produces two fertilizers, liquid & dry type. 1 unit of liquid fertilizer contains 2 units of chemical X & 4 units of chemical Y. 1 unit of dry fertilizer contains 3 units each of chemicals X and Y. Cost of liquid fertilizer is Rs. 3 & dry is Rs. 4 per unit. A farmer requires at least 90 units of chemical X & at least 102 units of chemical Y. Formulate as LPP and solve by simplex method to find optimal cost. (Solve without using artificial variable). (Ans: x1 = 6, x2 = 26, Z = Rs. 122) 3. Two products X & Y are produced using 3 manufacturing processes R1, R2 & R3. Contribution of X is Rs. 10 & Y is Rs. 12 per unit. Time requirement for each process for X is 2, 3 1 hr on R1, R2, R3. For Product Y it is 3, 2, 1 hrs. Availability of R1, R2, R3 is 1500, 1500, 600 hrs. Formulate LPP & solve by simplex method to find optimal product mix and optimal total contribution value.
