Aparna (Pinky) Reddy National President, FLO

Aparna Reddy, aka Pinky Reddy is a woman who dared to take on the mantle of a trail blazer and created her own unique identity as an entrepreneur and business woman.

With a business management course from Harvard University, Aparna

singlehandedly designed and developed marketing strategies to spearhead the

growth of companies that she has nurtured with a unique, distinct identity of her

own. Her strong acumen for business enabled her in creating a niche for herself through different aspects of work, enabling her to make the paradigm shift towards

Indian art and culture.

An ardent aficionado of art and culture, Aparna, affectionately known as Pinky, has turned her passion into a heritage business. Foreseeing a unique opportunity that

modern urban living offered for the promotion of heritage arts and culture, Aparna

started a venture called Lotus House. This organisation works towards reviving and

promoting fast disappearing indigenous art. Lotus House today is playing a major

role in the rejuvenation of ancient art, ensuring that struggling artists are provided

the encouragement and resources to revive a dying art and earn a decent living.

Thus, Lotus House has become a successful business module creating job

Jahnabi Phookan National Vice President, FLO

With nearly three decades of entrepreneurial experience in the field of travel and tourism, I have been a passionate advocate of ecotourism, conservation and

sustainable development in India’s verdant Northeast, “the Paradise Unexplored “.

A trained journalist, worked in the print media, studied Mass Communications in US

but gave it all up to return to Assam where the challenge was to turn a disadvantage into an advantage. And that’s how I co-founded Jungle Travels India as a vision to

bring tourists into the jungles of Assam .in 1989.

Jungle Travels India was to become the first IATA agent of the entire Northeast.

Her sister concern, Assam Bengal Navigation Company was to become the pioneering long distance ever cruise company in India in 2003 and put India on the

international cruising map.

Today, both these companies are the recipients of the National Tourism Excellence Awards.

Mentioned below are some of the contributions made towards the inspiring platform of FLO.

FLO ACTIVITIES:

Founder member and Founder Vice Chairperson FLO North east chapter in 2007 under the leadership of FLO President Kiran Gera.

Initiation of the concept of awarding 5 iconic women of Northeast since the

inception of FLO in 2007 which has continued unbroken till date.

Chairperson in 2008 FLO Northeast chapter.

Human trafficking being one of key issues of NE, I collaborated with the NGO

GOLD to train the trafficked women for skill development in weaving. The

central Silk Board assigned women master trainer under the FLO banner.

This continued with the support of central Silk board for the second year. The women, were able to leave the shelter home with viable vocational skills.

After my tenure, I have continued to work as an executive member of GOLD,

empowering trafficked women of the North east

Visit by Chief Secy, Meghalaya and a ten member delegation to my TRIBAL

HERITAGE center in Kaziranga, Assam as a model case study where I spoke about FLO’s contribution to my growth in the textile sphere.
