Day 1

Today is the day! I graduated college with my kinesiology major and now I’m moving out to San Diego to start the rest of my life. I am on my way to the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport to catch my flight.

Day 1 continued

I landed in San Diego and I am now looking for a nice little starter home/apartment or condo where I can live.

Day 2

I am so excited!!! I have actually chosen a place to live where I can call my own! I have decided that the condominium at 5252 Orange Avenue Unit 427 (option 2 on previous slide) is where I will start out living).

I picked this location (the green dot) because it is right off of a major highway and it’s not too far from downtown which is nice. Also, I like all the amenities the condo came with such as a pool and grills and my little condo is quite spacious.

Day 3

San Diego is so much nicer than Minneapolis. I love it here. It never gets too cold, it’s always in the 60’s or 70’s all year long because we are on the Pacific Ocean. That’s why it stays cooler than suburbs such as Escondido where it can be as hot as 85-90 degrees. It hardly ever rains here so you don’t really have to deal with what the weather will be, unlike in Minneapolis where you have to always dress for the weather. I don’t think I will ever get tired of seeing palm trees everyday. Going on runs here is so nice because when you run it’s so peaceful to run next to the ocean and hear the waves and you can even run barefoot on the beach which feels nice because the sand is so soft.

Day 4

The food is so good and fresh here in San Diego. The fish tacos and fried fish sandwiches are amazing because they catch it fresh and then cook it right at the restaurant. The food portions at this restaurant called Hash House a Go Go are huge. We walked into the restaurant and we looked at the plates of food and everyone was struggling to finish because the portions were that big but all the food at the Hash House was so good I wanted to go back a second morning. In-N-Out Burgers are really good as well, it is like the Culvers of California. Everyone is also friendly here. We met a British couple that has been living in San Diego for almost 40 years that ran the catamaran tours for a couple hours and that’s what they did for a living! We also met a server named Shannon from my dad’s hometown of Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin.

Day 5

There are many things to do here in San Diego. I can go watch a San Diego Padres baseball game at Petco Park or I can go watch a Chargers football game at Qualcomm Stadium. There are many beaches such as Coronado Beach, La Jolla Beach(where I can also see seals lying on the beach), Mission Beach, etc. There are so many water activities to do here such as stand up paddle boarding, parasailing, and kayaking to name a few. Seaport Village is a shopping and dining complex which is downtown and on the water. Other attractions include whale watching tours, catamaran tours, trolley tours, etc. There are so many great places to eat as well. San Diego is known for its delicious fish tacos and Mexican cuisine. Many of the most popular restaurants can be found in the Gaslamp Quarter. The Gaslamp Quarter is an iconic destination for tourists.
