VALUE BEYOND BUILDING
A&P has successful ly completed
more than 50 projects in h igh
a lt i tude mountain environments.
From Breckenr idge to Stea mboat
Spr ings, and Tel lur ide to Vai l ,
A&P understands the unique
considerat ions of mountain
construct ion.
Working around weather, access and manpower challenges is something we excel at. We have specialized teams that focus on mountain conditions and will provide the best service and results to our clients. A&P has more than 30 years of mountain construction experience. We understand the complexities and physical demands of building during brutal winter weather and at high altitude. We know how to manage the construction during spring mud season and we understand the sensitive issue of erosion control. We understand how cold winds, heavy snows and frozen ground will impact worker safety, the budget and schedule. We can also manage the occasional visits from the local animal population. A&P’s management plan will reduce or eliminate escalating costs and weather related material shortages as well as help protect workers, material and equipment and ensure that the project remains within the established budget and schedule without sacrificing quality.

VALUE BEYOND BUILDING
This new 12-bed, 68,500 square foot critical access hospital replaced the City’s existing hospital. Located on a 14-acre site, the new Yuma District Hospital significantly expands the quality and capacity of vital community healthcare services. The new facility includes a surgery wing, two operating rooms, endocrinology area, LDRP area, radiology department, cardiac/trauma area, physical therapy pool area, labs and clinic space.
A&P was brought on-board mid-design and was immediately challenged to maintain the strength and integrity of the architect’s compelling aesthetic vision within the client’s budget.
A&P applied a contentious preconstruction process to carefully scrutinizing design choices, building materials and finishes and proposed effective alternatives, which reduced costs without mitigating quality, functionality or the owner and architect’s aesthetic vision.

VALUE BEYOND BUILDING
This emergency room expansion and remodel includes six exam rooms and three trauma rooms. In addition, the project includes a new triage room, nurses station, clean room, reception room, waiting room, consult room, doctors office, break room and parking lot. Well-managed funds enabled the owner to add an additional parking lot, which was not part of the original scope.
The original stormwater plan was redrawn and routed to the south side of the hospital delaying A&P to begin construction a month late. Despite the new design and delay of construction start, A&P was able to finish two weeks before the original scheduled completion date. This was achieved by working hand in hand with the architect and civil engineer during the site work phase, often building off of drawings that were handed to AP Healthcare the same morning and by pushing our subcontractors to perform and coordinate with the team as a whole.

VALUE BEYOND BUILDING
This majestic multi-purpose academic and administrative center serves as the center piece of the College. Carefully integrated into the side of a steep slope, this state of the art building configured over three stories presents technologically advanced classroom space, auditoriums and student gathering components as well as many of the offices and services required for campus administration. The heart of the design is an expansive glass curtain wall and outdoor patio environment combining sweeping views with regionally appropriate building materials to create a sense of place and pride. The scope of work included the addition of a public road and related public utility improvements further connecting the new facility to the surrounding municipal interests. The improvements to public infrastructure greatly increased the need for a comprehensive process of identifying stakeholders within City of Steamboat Springs and neighborhood interests.

VALUE BEYOND BUILDING
This library is a new sustainable, 35,000 sf, single-story facility. The envelope consists of brick, stucco, stone veneer, storefront glass systems and aluminum sun shades. The facility features waterless urinals and an access floor system with an underfloor HVAC system. Interior finishes included acoustical panels to dampen noise transmission and carpet tile flooring to facilitate flexibility in the program and ease of maintenance on the HVAC system below the access floor. The rooftop mechanical screen wall is a transpired solar collector that uses perforated metal wall panels and a plenum to pre-heat the outside air feeding the rooftop units. This facility was the first in a new business park so all of the streets and public utilities had to be brought into the site during the construction period. The meeting room can be made available after hours through a dedicated entrance so the entire facility does not have to be opened for the community to use this area of the building.
