The CCC will be collecting Pasta for the month of April.

Youth News from the McPhersonsThis active bunch of youngsters have been at it again. The TPC youthmanaged to get 3 wonderful activities in again in the month of March! Wemade several wonderful plans and started putting them into action! Webegan the month at First Wednesday in March finalizing the plans for ourYouth Community Luncheon at Matheson Park in May. We discussed fundingthe event which would include a few fundraising events. Below is what allwe accomplished in fun and funding during the month.

On March 11th, the youth had a covered dish luncheon, played games andtraveled to Wilkesboro to watch the movie Dr. Seuss’, The Lorax. Six adultsand 16 youth helped fill up the theatre with good Christian fellowship andlaughter. It was a great movie that all of the youth (and adults) gave 2thumbs up!

On Saturday, March 17, four youth and Diane were able to visit a Habitatfor Humanity home off of Will Wilson Lane in Taylorsville to plant trees andshrubs for a home that was being awarded to a family the next day. We didnot have a lot of planning time to get a big turn-out for this one, but thosethat were able to make it, had a blast. As Mikayla Bousman still quotes,

“digging holes builds character,” and these few walked away with lots ofCHARACTER! We had a wonderful time of learning as we served others.Several other of the youth are excited in taking their turn next time andthere will be a next time soon. We hope to volunteer in the Re-store in thenear future until a house needs us again.

We ended the month with yet another successful Lock-In on Friday, March30 to price and prepare for a yard sale for our first fundraising activity! What an adventure! We had a certain figure in mind for being able to hostthe Hotdog Youth Community Luncheon and really wanted to reach thatgoal. With all of the charitable donations from our generous church family,WE MET OUR GOAL on our first event! We could not have done this withoutthe help of you. We had three adults help with pricing and spending theentire night with 14 youth members. We worked hard and then worked alittle harder. We were also blessed with two additional adults that werethere to help haul it all away when it was over. With what remained at theend of the sale, we had a generous contribution to the Christian Crisis Centerof Alexander County, Habitat for Humanity’s Re-Store, and some items weresaved for the next yard sale.

Thank you ALL!Van and Diane McPherson

We are putting together details for our Church Retreat this fall and need some preliminaryreservations from everyone. We are going to a NEW LOCATION called Lutheridge which islocated just outside of Newland on September 14-16. It is an easy drive, but a little furtherthan our location the last few years. It is a beautiful drive of 1 hour and 40 minutes fromTaylorsville. Please read on and then reply as indicated at the bottom.

Accommodations are VERY NICE in the hotel lodge (Crows Nest) or you may choose to stayin a nice small cabin that is set up with bunk beds and a full bathroom in each cabin. Wehope that folks looking for more “hotel style” lodging will attend to make this change inlocation feasible. We must book a minimum number of rooms in the hotel lodge, soplease check your calendars and save the date!

The Hotel lodge has an amazing living room/lobby area with a fireplace and a huge decklooking out over the mountain range. It will be the perfect spot to relax and rock away theday. There are several hikes around the property and other recreation opportunitiesavailable too. One hike in particular leads along the top of the mountain ridge withincredible views of the surrounding mountains.Housing Options:Cabin Housing:
