“The Worst Disaster” Tamil Nadu has ever faced !!!

Yes, we are describing the aftermath of Gaja cyclone, which took just 6 hours to permanently change the life of lakhs of people. It is going to take years to get back to normalcy. But this on ground reality has not reached out to the world.

What has happened so far…
• Initial relief materials have been delivered by various groups
• Govt. working on large scale infrastructure recovery like electricity
• Sporadic re-hab initiatives have started at few places
• The re-hab efforts has only reached 10% of Nagapattinam district
Karka on ground…
• We have been on the ground from the initial days. Have visited many villages to understand the damage first hand
• Contributed towards the relief activities
• Working with Inspire, the main resource organization for TN govt. Hence in touch will current on ground details.
• After high level survey, planning to work on rehabilitation of Naluvedhapathi village

What needs to be done in Naluvedhapathi
• Detailed village survey
• Debris cleaning
• Farmland recovery
• Local infrastructure recovery
Detailed survey to understand the demographics and the exact numbers of affected land, trees and other infrastructure.
Put together a team of tree cutters, machinery and expert team on ground to clear the fallen trees. Also do any relevant processing of the trees to easy disposal.
Deploy expert team from Inspire to aid step by step farmland recovery from the saline deposits and other contaminants.
Assess and work on recovering schools or others public infrastructure.
Support received for 300 acres

What you can do ?
• You can choose to rehabilitate a whole village by taking care of activities like debris cleaning, cut tree distribution, sapling distribution, local farmer training, school renovation, rebuilding huts etc…
(or) • You can choose specific activities in a village which you want to contribute for. • Karka kasadara & Inspire team will provide all on ground support like
requirement identification, resource mapping, vendor identification, govt coordination (if required), etc…
Financial Part
• You can directly the pay the vendors identified for different tasks (or) • You send your contributions to Karka’s account. Karka will take care of
payments along with on ground support and provide you receipts / reports
