“PASTOR PAUL’S PARAGRAPHS”
Dear Members and Friends of the Sweetwater Baptist Church:
Blessings!! Spring is a beautiful time of year in the CSRA. It is also a busy time with outdoor activi-
ties such as baseball, soccer, picnics, and fishing. May is also going to be a busy time at Sweetwater. I hope
you will make plans to participate in all the wonderful events scheduled throughout the month.
The National Day of Prayer will be on May 1st. This will be an important day of prayer for our nation,
community, and church. The church sanctuary will be open from 8:00 am until 6:00 pm for “Ten Hours of
Continuous Prayer.” Also, prayer guides will be available to utilize. Please, sign-up for a segment of pray-
er in the Information Center.
Our annual Men’s Golf Tournament will be on May 3rd at the Persimmon Hill Golf Club. The entry
fee is $45. This includes green fee, cart, practice balls, and give-a-ways. This is going to be a great day of
fun and fellowship. Entry forms are available in the Information Center.
May 4th will be Senior Adult Day at Sweetwater. Rev. Ellis Moore will be our guest speaker for this
special occasion. He was one of our speakers last year for our Senior Adult Revival. There will also be a fel-
lowship luncheon for our seniors after the 11:00 am service in the Family Life Center.
May 25th will be our Memorial Day Celebration. Robert and Linda Gillespie are putting together an
awesome, musical production for the afternoon festivities. This is going to be a special day of remembrance,
fellowship, and celebration. You don’t want to miss it!!
Also during the month of May, we will be focusing on the children at Sweetwater. May 11th, Mother’s
Day, will be our annual baby/child dedication service in the 11:00 am service. If you would like to dedi-
cate your child to the Lord, please contact the church office as soon as possible. In addition, May 18th will be
the Children’s Spring Musical. This special event will begin at 5:00 pm. Please, note this special time for
our evening worship service.
One of the great privileges of the Christian life is the opportunity to serve the Lord. There are numerous
places and capacities to serve the Lord at the Sweetwater Baptist Church. Soon our Nominating Committee
will begin working on the roster of volunteers for the 2014-2015 church year. Enclosed in this newsletter is a
volunteer form to indicate your desire to serve in the ministries of Sweetwater. Please, fill out the form and
return it to the collection box in the Information Center or “The Vault” by May 18th. Your willingness to
serve is greatly appreciated.
It is a privilege and a joy to serve you!!
With a Pastor’s Love,
Brother Paul

May Memory Verse
“For God so loved the world, that He gave His only Son, that who-
ever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life.”
John 3:16 ESV
Since Easter has just passed take the opportunity this month to re-mind children of a verse that explain the great love God showed us on the cross. This verse is a common one so if your child already knows it take the opportunity to go into a deeper discussion with them and if they don’t know it then you have the chance to teach them such a beautiful and important verse from God’s Holy Word.
