CDC – DRIVERS & WORK METHODOLOGY

The effort is preferably lead by a designated government

representative (possibly with the support of an external

person to do the secretariat work).

Industry, in coordination with the relevant governmental

authorities, has to:

Be the driver & identify what the priorities (WG topics) are

Create & populate the exec committee & working groups

required to tackle the identified priorities

Set the timelines for the required work

Create a coherent structure to permit the aforementioned

The structure should be flexible enough to be adaptable to

the rapid development of technology

CDC – THE ADVANTAGES

Permits the members of a national drone community to identify

themselves to each other.

Permits to overcome national drone community fragmentation.

Minimizes the risk of duplication of development efforts.

Permits to create a national vision & relevant industrial & regulatory

strategy.

Federates the members of a national drone community (large &

small enterprises) behind a common goal.

Creates better understanding between the governmental & non-

governmental members of a national drone community and

balanced opinions.

The national drone community can work in its national language.

1 Bring together the competences of large companies & SMEs,

which have a collective responsibility

2 Create a national opinion

3 Focus national industry on important action points:

t Urgent matters not dealt with in upcoming EU regulation, e.g.:

- Pilot Training & Qualification

- Flight School Approval

- Safety rules for test ranges

- Product Safety standards (Open category)

- Standard Scenarios (Specific category)

t Matters of critical importance, e.g.:

- Using SORA

- Identification & prioritizing standards (Specific category)

t Airspace integration

4 Coordination between EU CDCs will accelerate the creation of a

harmonized European approach
