Here is how it might read in the classifieds: Needed, One Mother: She must have the following characteristics: M Manager - able to train, direct, educate, and prepare a child for life. Mender - able to fix things from bicycles to broken hearts O Organizer - one who will bring structure to her household and her child’s life Opportunist - one who will seize the moment and keep her child’s eye on the goal. T Trustworthy - her child will know she can be trusted to keep her word. Teacher - she will not give a task without showing her child how to complete it. Taxi - available to drive her children to sporting events, birthday parties, and school functions. H Helper - she is there in the time of need Healer - she stands with her child through the rough places and wrong choices. Her kiss on a wound is better than any medicine a doctor can give. E Example - she sets an example in the home. Edifier - she builds up her children; she gives them confidence and encouragement. R Restrictor - she sets boundaries for herself and her children. Restorer - she is able to softly and tenderly rebuild and restore her children what others tear down. Refuge - she is a safe place in time of trouble. Reflector - she reflects the love and character of Christ. Being a mother is the most important, influential occupation on earth. Let us remember to appreciate and thank our mothers for their love and influence in our lives. Let us rise up and call her blessed! To all our mothers - Happy Mother’s Day! “Motherhood: Still the Most

Important Profession”

“Honor thy father and mother: Which is the first commandment with promise”

Ephesians 6:2

During May, we honor and celebrate Mother’s Day. Due to the efforts of Anna M. Jarvis, who suggested a national observance of an annual day honoring all mothers, on May 9, 1914, by an act of Congress, President Woodrow Wilson, proclaimed the second Sunday in May as Mother’s Day. As I thought about Mother’s Day, I began to reflect on motherhood. I believe it is still the most important profession in the world. Being a mother is more than giving birth. It is a lifetime commitment of love, nurture, correction, training, and building character in children’s lives. From the time a child is born, the mother prepares the child for the rest of his/her life. Life is full of different roads; there are many paths to follow. Mothers teach their children how to make good choices, and to love them through the lessons. As we think about all that a mother does, I thought about a job description a mother might have.

“Faith That Shapes Your Life” Series

“You Can’t Fake It, You’ve Got to Faith It” Faith. . . . a must to please God. However,

faith is not just a requirement, but it is a

power source. When the world comes

crashing in, faith will give you the strength

you need to overcome. In this two part

series, you will be inspired to draw closer to

God in study and in prayer. You’ll also

learn just how much faith plays a part in your everyday life.

6 PM:

Encounter Prayer Meeting

Join with us as we gather corporately in

worship and praise to our Heavenly Father

as we strive as a congregation, families and

individuals to continue to seek God to Open

Up the Heavens in 2014.

May 25th: 9 & 11 am Services

“Faith That Shapes Your Life” Series

“God’s Four Impossibilities”

As seen throughout the Scripture, nothing is

impossible with God. There is “no thing”

outside His power of control. But, in this

message, you will discover the four things

God cannot do which will strengthen your

faith to believe God for the impossibilities

in your life.

6 PM:

Reverend Terry Richardson

Pastor Terry Richardson will minister during

the evening service. Bring the entire family

to Sunday evening service as you will not

leave the same way as you came.

COMING SUNDAYS IN MAY May 4th: 9 & 11 am Services

“None of These Things Move Me” Most failure comes, not from a lack of

talent or opportunity, but from a lack of

determination. Babe Ruth said, “It’s hard to

beat a person who never gives up.” Like

Rizpah proved in 2 Samuel when she refused

to quit, your determination will get the

attention of the king. You may be fighting to

save a dream, to defeat a sickness or to protect your family

like Rizpah. What you have to get hold of is determination

that says, “None of these things move me.” Even when

there’s no fight left in me, I won’t let go! In this message you

will be encouraged to persevere and persist until the victory

comes.

6 PM:

“Speed-the-Light” Service

Reverend Matt Rule

Speed-the-Light (STL) is the student-initiated, volunteer,

charitable program that provides much-needed equipment to

missionaries across the nation and in over 180 countries

around the world. Since its beginning, STL has raised over

$253 million for missionary equipment around the world.

Reverend Matt Rule has been in ministry for

twelve years, and currently serves as Youth

Director of the South Texas District of the

Assemblies of God. Matt desires to help

Pastors, Families, and Youth Ministries

promote the name of Jesus all over South

Texas. Matt and his wife, Heather, are

graduates of Southwestern Assemblies of God University.

They have three daughters, Emily, Hailey, and Madison.

May 11th: 9 & 11 am Services

Mother’s Day - Reverend Tina Richardson

As mothers, we have the ultimate responsibil-

ity to ensure our children are taught about the

faithfulness of God. We have witnessed first

hand His healing touch towards a sick child,

His hand of protection as they played sports

and learned to drive, and, most importantly,

His leading as they surrendered their lives to

Him. The faithfulness of God amazes us - it

shouldn’t but it does. Whether you are a mother who has

birthed or adopted children, or if you are a spiritual mother,

you can testify to the faithfulness of God. Pastor Tina will

deliver a dynamic and powerful message entitled I’ll Stand -

celebrating the faithfulness of God towards mothers, on

behalf of mothers and through mothers.

robe su gozo. Dice la palabra de Dios en 1 Pedro 5:8 Sed sobrios, y velad; porque vuestro adversario el

diablo, como león rugiente, anda alrededor buscando a quien devorar. Entonces recitamos al diablo!

Life Light Ministries Saturdays, 9:00 am, in the Sanctuary

As believers, we are charged with the duty to

spread the Good News in our community.

Each Saturday morning we gather to be

witnesses of His love and mercy. Just as

Jesus received sinners, we should receive

people as they are and invite them to know

Christ. Let’s step out of our comfort zones

and make new friends. It is through making new friends that

we will be able to lead them to Christ Jesus.

Prayer is a powerful thing. Prayer can also

be a confusing thing for kids. Many kids

think they don’t pray “good enough.”

Many times, it is because of a lack of

understanding as to what prayer really is.

In this series, children will learn very practical ways they can

pray for others. From praying for the sick to praying for our

missionaries to praying for an unsaved friend or family

member, these lessons will teach kids how to “Pray Until
