POINT PLEASANT BEACH DRAMA CLUB

The High School Drama Club will be presenting the comedy Parlor Games by James C. Wall on Thursday, December 2nd and Friday, December 3rd at 7 P.M. at the F. Thomas Crawley Auditorium (Antrim). Have you ever wondered what people will say about you after you’ve gone? This is the question practical joker Mort McNulty asks himself as he plans his own wake. Will he hear good things? Will he end up cremated? Will he be stuffed by a taxidermist? And will he be the first man to survive his own wake? All these questions and more will be answered in the school production of Parlor Games. Tickets will go on sale the week of November 22nd. They will be available in room 514 after school and through the High School main office. Tickets can also be purchased at the door

on the evenings of the performances. Tickets are $6.00 for adults, $5.00 for students and seniors, and $2.00 for children K-6. Please come support the Drama in an evening of laughter and comedy.

KEY CLUB Kindly remember that 30 hours of service are required to maintain club status. Please try to attend all the meetings. If you can’t attend a meeting, pick up an agenda from room 308. We are collecting non-perishable item for the Food Bank of Monmouth and Ocean County. Please send the assigned item to school with your child so that their homeroom can get credit. The homeroom with the most points by November 17th will receive a free breakfast from the club in the cafeteria on Monday, November 22nd. We will also be collecting items for care packages for our troops. Visit to soildersangels.org for a list of acceptable items. Items for our troops may be dropped off in room #308 (Sra. Polanco). UNICEF Boxes are still available. Please pick one up from Sra. Polanco. They are to be returned by Thursday, November 11th. Continue to save cancelled stamps for the Veterans to make projects while they are rehabilitating. When cutting them from envelopes, leave about ¼ inch of paper around them. Thank you in advance for your support!

Thanksgiving Recess November 25-26, 2010

No School PRINCIPAL’S P.S. I want to take this opportunity to share my Thanksgiving message with you: Like many, sometimes when I talk about being grateful, it is rather glib. Personally, I have to sometimes remember to pause and reflect to let the feeling of gratitude sink deeper from my heart into my mind. To me, that is what Thanksgiving is for…why we take time off from work. It is not JUST for eating turkey and stuffing (ourselves). Not just for Thursday midday football. Nor just for family gatherings. If Thanksgiving has turned into a flurry of activity for you and your family, remember what this short little space in the year is really for: To PAUSE activity just for a little bit and recall all the things you have that others might not possess. Remind yourself of the things you have gratefully left behind, or overcome. Most of all, let the people you call “relatives and friends’ know just how much you love them and how grateful you are for their love. Let it surface so they can see and feel it. Remind, too, your children of the true message of Thanksgiving. It can’t hurt to spread it around!

Among other things (and my personal list is very long) I am grateful to be the Principal of Point Pleasant Beach High School.

Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours.

Raymond D. Ellis, Ed.D. Raymond D. Ellis, Ed.D. Principal
