The easiest way to find a doctor, hospital or urgent care location within the Wellmark network is to go to Wellmark.com.

Log in to Wellmark.com (or register if it’s your first time visiting the site).

Once in the website, click on Find a Doctor or Hospital under Quick Links.

Select a directory based on where you are looking for a provider:

ff For Iowa and South Dakota Providers you will be asked to select a network, which can be found on the front of your Wellmark ID card.

ff For National Providers you will be asked to enter the first three letters of the identification number, which can be found on the front of your Wellmark ID card. Entering this information will provide you more specific results.

Follow the easy directions to search by name of health provider, facility and location. You can also further define your search.

PAY LESS OUT OF YOUR POCKET

You can save money by choosing a health care provider from your health plan network. Be sure to ask if the provider contracts with Wellmark and present your Wellmark ID card when you receive health care services.

Find Top Centers for Specialty Care. Certain conditions

require special equipment and providers with extensive

experience. Blue Distinction® is a designation awarded by Wellmark

to high-performing medical facilities in certain areas including

bariatric surgery, cardiac care, complex and rare cancer, knee and

hip replacement, spine surgery, and transplants. This designation

helps make it easier for you to find quality specialty care.

View Program Participants. Find out which network

health care providers are recognized in the Wellmark

Collaboration on Quality® (CoQ) care program. This program

recognizes and rewards primary care providers who provide care

that meets or exceeds national guidelines. You will see a CoQ logo

by his or her name in the online directory if they are participating.

Note: This is only available within the Iowa and South Dakota online

provider directory at Wellmark.com.

The average patient devotes an hour or less to researching his or her surgical procedure. More than one-third of those operated on in the past five years made no attempt at all to review the credentials of the doctor who performed the procedure.

Compare Hospital Quality. Safety and

quality are important measures when

looking for health care services. You will be directed

to the Blue National Doctor and Hospital Finder,

which lets you compare performance on common

diagnoses and procedures with other hospitals in your

community and across the country.

Research Costs. Hospital costs can be

difficult to find. Get a great start with the

Treatment Cost Estimator tool. Here, you can research

cost estimates for more than 600 medical conditions.

This tool provides cost information based on a

“complete episode of care,” which means hospital

costs, physician costs, prescription drug costs and

other related costs.
