No means of measure exists to determine the insignificance of who occupies that seat, over the one who occupies the seat of your heart. God’s answer for this world was not in sending the constitution, or the party of FDR or Lincoln. God’s answer for this world was to send the express image of Himself, His Son, in order that the world could see the need to turn from sin and seek the will of the Father to be saved (I Peter 1:20-21). The calling with which we were called was a redemptive calling: It’s the blood of Jesus which brings our forgiveness (Ephesians 1:7). In Him we were chosen (vs. 4), in Him we have obtained an inheritance (vs. 11) and in Him we trusted His word as truth (vs. 13). It’s the body of Jesus, where Jesus is the head and He is the fulness of all that is ours as Christians (vs. 23). The calling with which we were called was a reconciled calling (vs. 16) and in Jesus Christ we were reconciled, made to be at peace once more, with God through Christ (Eph 2:16). The calling with which we were called was a revealed calling, because were it not for Jesus Christ, the church would not have existed to make know the mystery of how all people, of all places, of every personality and race can exist in body and have but one purpose, to make known God’s wisdom (Eph 3:10). The calling with which we were called is the reasoned calling of God (Eph 4:1). Paul called himself a ‘“prisoner of the Lord” (Ephesians 4:1), which in essence is the heart of the matter in any aspect of our lives. The attitude which surrenders our lives to something more than politics, or the pursuits of the world, or the pursuits of self will and want is refused and found in the heart which chooses to be enslaved to a Savior and no longer to sin. This is the attitude which looks to the image of each and every life and realizes there is nothing more significant to live for than to live for and by the will and walk of the word and life of Jesus Christ. There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called in one hope of your calling; one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all” (Ephesians 4:4-6). If ever there were a “constitution” or a “declaration of independence” for the Lord and His people, here it is. This is the calling to which we have been called and to which we are to call others. It’s the gift we are to give to the generations, from the God who has given it as the “government” with which He governs His people (Isaiah 9:6-7). The terms liberal, conservative, progressive, moderate, independent; are all terms which describe the landscape of belief in the world of politics. Yet, as with most things, the church has been identified with the things of this world. Our doctrine is described as liberal, conservative, or progressive. Any one of these is dangerous and not of God. Liberal doctrine ignores boundaries. Conservatism places more rules and regulations than God has allowed. Progressives goes beyond what God allows. We have been called by God to God to be faithful for God. Labels will fade, but faithfulness endures to eternity. I hope you know, the greatest power to which we can yield is the “God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all” (Ephesians 4:6).

ALWAYS THE PERFECT WAY TO START THE DAY! It is always a blessing as so many choose to get together a little earlier before school and enjoy this time. THE LOCKIN IS ALMOST HERE! The bus departs at 10:30pm this Friday on the way to LazerQuest. Cost is $35 which includes games until early in the morning, pizza and soft drinks. Plans are to return to the bus garage parking lot by 7:30am. It is sure to be an unforgettable night. Last day to sign up is Wednesday. We are wrapping up a study on discipleship in the Senior High Class. It has been an in depth study that hopefully has caused us all to challenge our comfort, to change our view to that of Christ’s, and to choose to do things that correspond with our mission to seek and save those which are lost. If we think about it, the main word in the great commission is “go.” Where will you “go” today that will make an eternal impact on yourself and others? No matter where that takes you, it will definitely be as you… follow His path, -Craig

D Moments With Matthew

Happy Holidays e v e r y o n e ! That's right—t h e “ m o s t wonderful time of the year” is right around the corner, and as

always it looks to be a very exciting and eventful time in the life of our congregation. Like many of you, I have a significant amount of fond memories involving the Centerville Church of Christ around Thanksgiving and Christmas. As these days arrive sooner-than-you-think, be sure to take time to treasure these moments with your brothers and sisters in Christ! “A Hope for Righteousness” has been our study for the past several months on Wednesday nights. Our auditorium class has been studying through Paul's letter to the Romans to remind ourselves that, even though we have “all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23), through our faith in God we still have an opportunity to reach Heaven one day. I'm thankful for the great participation we have had in this study. We still have a few weeks left, so if you are looking for a “home” on Wednesday evenings please come join us! It's truly hard to believe, but our newest, Keegan, turned 2-months-old this past Sunday. While these have been the two most exhausting months of my life, they have been a tremendous blessing. Bruin is so proud of his brother, and we are reminded daily of the fact that we are a blessed people. All of us in this congregation and elsewhere are richer than we realize, and we should challenge ourselves to do a better job of slowing down to appreciate the gifts that God sends our way. Scripture tells us that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above” (James 1:17); may we never forget it. God bless, Matthew

Thank You Mary Katherine Bates writes: A big “Thank You” for my birthday cards and for all the acts of kindness bestowed on me. You made my day “Extra Special”. In Christian Love

Secret Sisters

Our current Secret Sister Program is coming to an end. We have had a GREAT time and I’m sure, a tough time keeping our secret. We will have our reveal dinner on December 2, 2016 at the Outreach Center at 6 P.M. We would love to have more Secret Sisters in 2017! If you are interested in participating, please pick up the information sheet in the lobby and turn it in to Glenda Newsom or Tammy Willis by December 15, 2016 so we can draw names for 2017. The more the merrier! Glenda Newsom
