INTRODUCTION
The information I am about to share with you is my personal
experience. I was hungry for success and I made it happen.
I made it happen because I was not lazy. I have the full
conviction that if anybody too would practice what is written
here, the person would soon be giving their testimonies.

Now Pay Attention and Learn
I want to inform you about an incredible tool of economic
empowerment and how it improved my financial status and
opened my financial eyes to the inherent possibilities,
monetary and material benefits that lie untapped in
Agriculture.
Youths have failed to embrace the numerous material and
financial benefits Agriculture brings to whosoever is ready for
it. The reasons for this can be attributed to so many things but
I will highlight two (2).
First, is the lack of adequate financial education and
lack of the knowledge of the subconscious blessings of
any agro venture.
Secondly, the “get rich quick syndrome” that has engulfed
their minds. Most Youths have continuously neglected the law
of labour. In every labour there is profit, but they under the
guise of no employment perpetrate crimes so as to make
money, crimes ranging from internet scam, kidnapping,
Copyright 2014. Chinedu Eluwa. All Rights Reserved
robbery etc. This they do without knowing that a lot of money
can be made legally and lots if not empires can be built on the
Agric sector.
I am not saying that the unemployment status is good, far
from it, it is a curse. A man that fails to provide food for his
family has denied the faith. What I am trying to say is that
wealth abounds in all legitimate endeavors, and that it’s high
time for the largely unemployed youths to look inwards and
become Creators- Creators of employment that we were
created to be.
Youths have failed to understand that life is a cycle and we
keep cycling out. Just like our fathers got to this very stage
that most of us are at now, and their fathers before them, some
of them took the illegal steps to acquire wealth and ended up
not so well, so also some of the youths have taken the road of
ill-wealth and alas, they will also end up the same way. This is
because it is a natural law that whatsoever a man soweth, that
shall he reap. The Holy book shows clearly how people that
make wealth in illegal ways end up:

“As an ostrich lays her eggs and not hatch them, so shall they
live their riches in the midst of their days and at the end, they
shall become fools.”
I saw the numerous opportunities agriculture offers since my
childhood and I have keyed into it and I tell you, it continues
to bless me financially, materially and spiritually. And also I
can substantively say that I receive more in terms of financial
reward from my agro ventures than most of my mates that are
on a paid employment.
I am a Masters Degree Candidate that has understood the
power in agriculture and is on a quest to enlighten more
youths on its potency. Am following my dreams, and I intend
to feed the “whole nations” of the earth before my sojourn on
earth is over.
Agriculture is big business.

GRASSCUTTER FARMING: AN EFFECTIVE
WAY OF CREATING EMPLOYMENT.
My name is Chinedu Eluwa, am a Political Theorist (B.Sc Pol sci, M.Sc
Pol sci in view, 2014), I started analyzing the role that micro-livestock
farming will play in the near future in terms of creating decent
employment for the youths-men, women and young people during my
National youth service days in 2009 at Ondo State, and this analysis
took me to forestry research institute of Nigeria, Ibadan (FRIN).
This was where I saw an animal that made me think twice-
Grasscutter.
For the first time I was seeing Grasscutter being reared.
Grasscutter otherwise known as cane rats are widely distributed in the
wild and are mostly found in central and West Africa. It is popularly
known as “Nchi” in Igbo language. Its meat is a popular delicacy
Copyright 2014. Chinedu Eluwa. All Rights Reserved
known also as bush meat and is eaten either roasted or as pepper soup
and can also be used for cooking other native delicacies.
“Anu Nchi” is not as common as the poultry-chicken, turkey, beef or
goat meat. This is the reason why it sells more per kg than Chicken
and turkey, and also why it is known as the “delicacy for the
rich.” Grasscutters belong to the rodent family and is biggest after the
porcupine, with an adult Grasscutter weighing about 4 to 10kg.
Grasscutter is a big delicacy in Nigeria’s diet. Everything but the hair
is eaten. The nutritive value of Grasscutter is relatively high. The crude
protein content of the meat is about 22.7% compared to 20.7% for
rabbit meat, 19.25% for chicken and 18.2% for beef.
One can depend on Grasscutter farming for his livelihood. In fact,
Grasscutter farming creates job opportunities for urban and rural
dwellers. The business of producing, processing, transporting, storing,
financing, and servicing Grasscutter products create employment for
many people.
My quest to understand more about this wonderful animal and how to
commercialize them took me round so many organized farms and
through so many documentary materials in the quest for more
information about profitable Grasscutter farming. This I did because I
know that adequate and accurate information is among the key
requirements for success in whatsoever venture one undertakes.

After equipping myself with the necessary information needed to set
up the venture, I started facing challenges in the form of:
·Lack of Capital
·Lack of Space
·Fear of Failure
Now let me discuss these issues briefly...
I want to make it clear that all these issues I outlined above are
challenges but if you look at it from the right perspective, you will see
that they are opportunities. Because every challenge is an opportunity
to learn something, and just like Abraham Lincoln said; learning is a
continuous process.
· Lack of Capital:
In March 2012, after attending a “one on one Grasscutter
training” at Ogun State, I came back home in a high spirit, high
spirit not because of the “one on one Grasscutter training”, but
because of what I had learnt from the young man, a graduate (a
certified accountant) who was the owner of the farm. During the tour
on his farm I was so amazed because I was standing in a Grasscutter
farm with about 450 to 500 Grasscutters “fully alive” roughly valued
at about N2,000,000.

I asked him how many he started with.
Do you know how many he told me?
Guess...
“1 male and 1 female.”
He told me he started with 1 male and 1 female and as they increased,
he bought more families.
Here I learnt a big lesson. I learnt that there is great gain in starting
small and growing.
Lesson #1: Start small.
“Forget ye not the days of your humble
beginning for thy latter ending shall be great.”
·Lack of Space
After realizing that I could start small and grow big, I was
yet again faced with the issue of Space.
What did I do?
I quickly went to an iron welder around my neighborhood
and told him I needed a cage to start rearing Grasscutters.

He was amazed! This was because he never knew
Grasscutters could be reared. I gave him the specifications
of the iron cage I had seen in the Vanguard newspaper
seminar advert of Mr Arinze the CEO of Jovana farms and
also a successful Grasscutter farmer.
It was a 3 Decker cage and I used hard wood to make a
bed for them on each deck (this was a wrong move as
Grasscutters chew through the wood and their urine easily
soaked the bed. But I was learning).
This didn’t cost me more than N15, 000 and I faithfully
positioned my Grasscutter cage right in front of my room,

and I was ready for business.
I had yet again learnt a new lesson.
Lesson #2: “you can start anything you want, just
start.”
·fear of failure
What if I failed, to succeed in this venture?
What if I couldn’t rear them?
What if they run away?
What if.....
What if…...
Questions upon questions constantly filled my mind like a scientist
making an inquiry.
But how would I actually know the answers to these questions if I
never actually tried?
So I overcame that fear by getting out of my comfort zone and bought
my first colony of 1 male and 4 females and today, a Successful

Grasscutter Farmer.
Lesson #3: “Nothing is Impossible. All we need to do is just
TRY!!!”
How I Created Wealth Using
Grasscutter farming
I started with 2 colonies- 8 females and 2 males which cost me
about N150,000 (thats for the 2 colonies +transportation and
other equipment).
A female gives birth to over 5 Grasscutlings.
The 8 females littered only once in the first year=
8x4=32 Grasscutlings.
In the first year, the 8 female Grasscutters reproduced
32 Grasscutters. That means i got about 5 families from my
original 2 family investment and the 5 families is valued
Copyright 2014. Chinedu Eluwa. All Rights Reserved
at over N200,000.
Now in the second year, they littered 2x which is their
normal littering number per year. That gave me 50
Grasscutlings.
The investment is now valued at over N400,000. Now i also
made more money in this business by simply documenting
and selling my experiences, expertise and knowledge that i
gained from raising them.
These documentations were produced in the form of short
reports, handouts, videos, training manuals etc. The amount
you make here depends on how well you package and market
your intellectual products. Most farmers sell there Grasscutter
videos for N7,500 –N10,000 non-negotiable.
Through my marketing mix, I sold my Training videos and
made some money from it too.

At this point, you see that my N150,000 investment has now
become valued at over N400,000.
The beauty and secret of this business depends on your
LEVEL OF INVESTMENT and MANAGEMENT. You can
start with more families depending on how much fund you
have at your disposal. You can source for capital to start
maybe through the financial institutions, friends and
associates or your own personal savings.
I will strongly advice that you start up this business with your
personal savings and grow it to a reasonable level before going
to financial institutions. This is because in approaching this
financial institutions, they will want to see proof of viability,
that is when your already functioning farm will work in your
favour. But all in all, if you are determined, you can still grow
your farm to a Million Naira business with your personal
savings, just create more space and buy more families once in
a while as your pocket can carry. I started with my personal
savings and it has brought me thus far.

Conclusion
Everything you will ever achieve in this life as regards your
financial status starts with one general principle- DESIRE.
I have taken time to observe so many great achievers in history
and I observed a common trend- They all had what Napoleon
Hill called a BURNING DESIRE.
Friend you too can do this, its all about the intensity of your
desire. With just 1 family for a start, you are on your way to
financial independence.
ACT NOW, TIME THEY SAY WAITS FOR NO ONE!!!

THANK YOU
Thank you for Reading this FREE E-Book.
Grasscutter farming can really help you create more wealth
this year.
If you sell 20 colonies this year at the price of N49,750, you
will be making a cool N990,000
Imagine what you can achieve with N990,000 this year?
A lot!
Now imagine you sold 30 colonies…
That is N1,492,500.
This is a little compared to what you can do.

In my quest to increase my customers and make more sales, I
discovered that over N7,000 Nigerians are seeking to start
Grasscutter farming but they have not been able to find
information on how to start, the best stocks to buy, who to buy
from etc.
I discovered this in a research I carried out to find out the
number of people searching for this information on Google
(This is the biggest search engine in the world).
This is the result of the searches people right here in Nigeria
made on Google about this over the last 12 months…

As you can see, just last month 5,490 (March 2015) from
Nigeria wanted to get into Grasscutter farming.
If you sell 90 colonies to just 90 people, how much is that?
I will leave you to do the calculations for yourself and see what
you have been missing out on.
And the beauty of this is that you can do Grasscutter farming
as a side business, and using the power of the internet, you can

reach more customers faster than you ever thought possible.
