Luke 16:23, “And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments,…..”

In 2010 a book was written by ToddBurpo about his son’s near death

experience where he said he went toHeaven and saw Jesus. The book’sname is “Heaven is for Real.” Ipersonally have never read the bookbut I know Heaven is real because theBible has told me that it was real. Thetitle suggests that many doubt thetruth of Heaven and possibly thetestimony of this little boy would helpconfirm the reality of it to skeptics. However, we must base our faith inthe infallibility of God’s Word andwhen that is believed it makes eternaltruths real.

Not only do people seemingly doubtHeaven but it is very obvious they doubt the existence of Hell.It is one thing for atheists to make caustic remarks againstBible truth but there are many who claim to be “Christian”that likewise come against this Bible Doctrine. Pope Franciswas quoted in La Repubblica by journalist Eugenio Scalfarias saying “those who do not repent and cannot therefore beforgiven disappear. ARTICLES of FAITHThe object for which it is formed is: To preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and promote abetter understanding among all brethren.

The Word of God alone shall be the Doctrine, Practice, and Discipline of this Boardof Members: it being understood that we receive it as the inspired Word of God and theDivine rule of faith and conduct.

We believe in God the Father Almighty. Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ,His only begotten Son, who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the virgin Mary, sufferedunder Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried and arose on the third day accordingto the Scriptures, afterwards ascended into heaven where He is now seated at the right hand ofGod the Father, from whence He is come again to judge the quick and dead.

We believe in Water Baptism and that it should be administered to every believeraccording to the Scriptures given by St. Matthew 3:17;28:19; St. Mark 16:15; Acts 8:36-38.We teach that the Blood of Jesus Christ cleanseth from all sin, and sanctifies the believer, thusmaking him or her eligible to receive the gift of the Holy Ghost which is given to themthat obey (Acts 5:32) and the evidence of such experience shall be according to Acts 2:4.

We believe in the resurrection of the dead and the Communion of the saints, the Lord’sSupper and washing the saint  s feet. We believe that divine healing for our physical bodieswas included in His suffering as mentioned by the prophet Isaiah 53:5. It is still available toall who meet conditions and according to His will (James 5:14).

We believe that all ministers should be of good report (1 Timothy 3:7-12) includingPastors, Evangelists, Deacons and Elders (Titus 1:5-7); and husbands of one wife.We believe the Church of Jesus Christ to be a living Organism. The Body of Christ, andhabitation of God through the Spirit (Ephesians 2:20-22), and that each true believer is a memberof the Body (1 Corinthians 12:14; Acts 2:47). -By Brother Ira J. Roberts

Editor’s Desk“...My tongue is the pen of a

ready writer.” Ps. 45:1

Psa 134:2 Lift up your hands inthe sanctuary, and bless theLORD ….Each of our human handshand contains (plus or minus...everyone counts these thingsdifferently): 29 major and minorbones  .29 major joints. At least123 named ligaments. There are 34 muscles which move the fingers and thumb, 48named nerves, 30 named arteries and nearly as many smallernamed branches. The Hand is a marvelous instrument. “The best helping handthat you will ever receive is the one at the end of your ownarm,” said Fred Dehner. Man was given the hand, becauseHe was an intelligent creature. A large part of the brain isdedicated to the hands. We feel with them, express love withthem, a caress and embrace with them. We defend with them, build with them, and provide with them.

They are our chief instrument by which we serve ourselves. The sacred instruction is to “lift your hands in the sanctuary.”This means we should take that by which mans serves himselfand honor God with them.

“The impersonal hand of government can never replace thehelping hand of a neighbor,” said Hubert H. Humphrey . Goddidn’t give us these hands just to serve ourselves but to servehumanity as well as glorify God with them

God tests the loyalties and love of a man by putting things inhis hands to honor Him. It is not always what we say with ourmouths but God looks largely at what we actually do with ourhands. Matt. 25:15: “And unto one he gave five talents, toanother two, and to another one; to every man according tohis several ability; and straightway took his journey. “ Godcalled these men to account for what they done with what Heput in their hands.

The greatest problem that we have is that we feel we can serveHim with one hand and serve self with the other. Luke 9:62:“And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand tothe plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.“Now a careful observation says that no man having put his“hand” (singular) to plow and looking back is fit for thekingdom. That is one hand. A simple deduction says that ifthat man would have kept both hands on the plough, it would

make it difficult to look back. IF his attention and focus wason the work, he would have been at it with both hands.

We do that. We use one hand for His service and do somethingelse with another. We multitask with God. We are a culturecommitted to multi-tasking. It sometimes seems every aspectof life is being shaped so as to ensure it can be performed withone hand.  But then something comes along that can’t beaddressed with just one hand. Have you ever held a baby. Onehanded? Not likely. Especially if it’s someone else’s baby;this is not an exercise you want to get wrong. It really doestake two hands. You really don’t want to place your baby inthe hands of someone who is using one hand to type out atext message or scroll their way through Facebook.

I can hold open one hand to beg. I can hold one hand up torepulse. I can use one hand to gesture and say come. I canhold one hand up to command your attention. I can use onehand to shake and show friendship. I can use one hand tosalute and show respect. But if I really want to show affectionand love, it takes two hands to embrace.1600 years ago St Augustine of Hippo distinguished betweentwo kinds of things. One kind of thing we enjoy. These arethe things that are worth having for their own sake. They aren’ta means to an end: they’re a joy in themselves. The other kindof thing we use. Things we use aren’t good for themselves –they’re a means to some further end. They serve only a limitedpurpose.I want to suggest to you that what we grasp or take or jugglein one hand is what we use, and what we yearn for and treasureand shape our whole posture to receive and cherish is whatwe enjoy. What we use only requires  one hand: we can use anumber of things at the same time. But to enjoy something,or someone, we really need both hands, because it takes allour concentration.God doesn’t just use us. God enjoys us. In other words we’renot a consumer good that God tosses into the cart and thinksabout dealing with later at the checkout. On the contrary, thewhole life of God is shaped to be in relationship with us, toenjoy us. God doesn’t just give us one hand. God alwaysapproaches us with both hands – because we mean everythingto God. Song of Solomon, 2:6 His left hand is under my head, and his right hand doth embrace me.Jesus wasn’t multitasking when he went to the cross. He wasshowing His greatest love for a fallen world and offered bothhands to be nailed to the cross.

If Jesus gave us both hands, why can’t we turn loose of ourdistraction and give him unadulterated worship and “lift upyour hands in the sanctuary.”

My point I have hoped to make in these ramblings, is thatChrist deserves better than half-hearted, distracted worship.True worship empties the hands and lift them in praise. Youcan’t multi-task while worshiping. -BP

system to see the answer to their question. If a murderer onlyused five hours of his life to commit a crime, they do notsentence him to five hours in prison. The severity of the crimedetermines how long the time in prison or even if they get thedeath penalty. Sin is more severe than we think. And I thinkthat is one of the main problems; we do not think our sin isreally that bad. In fact, we deem ourselves pretty good nextto others in this world. However, the Bible teaches that Hellis for real and that makes sin very real and dangerous.

In order to see the severity of sin and how it should be judgedlet us look to the last book of the Bible. John started the bookof Revelation with a vision of Christ. Although there werefearful judgments that took place in the following visions hehad nothing effect him like the glorified Christ. The all holySon of God caused him to become as a dead man. This didnot happen when he saw death or hell or the anti-Christ. Ifour Lord is so holy that His glory would cause a holy man fallon his face, it is going to be fearful for any sinner to standbefore Him in judgment. Then, they will understand what anassault on God sin really is. I think the book of Revelationlays the groundwork for the reasons for judgment in the firstfew chapters. The throne of God and His government is indisplay before His judgment. We look into the throne of Godand in Chapter four of Revelation. Those around the thronegive the Lord praise for creating all things. Rev 4:11: Thouart worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power:for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they areand were created.

Man rebels against God’s government and judgment follows. From this verse we see the greatness of God. He is the Creatorand has the right to govern those He has made. God is not justa president that is elected or a king that rules, He is the creatorof all things and the giver of life to mankind. Therefore Hehas the right to govern like no other ruler that has ever hadauthority.

Government demands laws. If laws are broken then there ispunishment. Breaking laws is deemed to be rebellion againstthe government. God has a government and He has laws. When people rebel against His laws they rise up against Hisauthority but not only His authority but His nature. His natureis holy and all His laws reflect His holiness. Sin is more thanrebellion against the authority of God to govern but it is anattack on God’s nature. It must be punished with a punishmentthat reflects the crime. Although sin may only be a few years,it is an assault upon the nature of God. It would do to Him asthe most religious and powerful people did to His Son. Oursin would slay God if given the chance. Therefore, sin mustbe punished with everlasting punishment.

Some object to everlasting punishment and try to make it asif that God would never do such a thing. The words used todescribe hell are the same words used to describe God’seternal nature, Heaven’s eternal bliss and man’s eternal soul.To say that Hell is not unending is to make the Bible say thatthere will be a day that Heaven is no longer joyful or that Godno longer exists. When people make a temporary Hell theymake a temporary Heaven and a temporary God.

It is very sad to think of souls in Hell now that are verycognizant of their guilt, their suffering and their eternalhopelessness. And there are a few that try to do away with theBible’s teachings about Hell from a different standpoint. Theyhave said that God’s mercy is so perfect that He could neverallow people to go to hell. But this is making a God that doesnot follow through on His promises. He cannot mean what Hesays. In their minds Hell is only used to threaten or fearfullyinfluence. However, the truth is that God really knows He willnot judge anyone. This makes God weak, unable to keep His

word; given to emotionrather than judiciallaws. This mercy is notperfection but aweakness. God cannotbe just or graciousunder this idea and itbrings no glory to Himat all. It makes Himunable to make up Hismind or tell the truth.God is perfect in mercyand justice and helldoes not contradictthese things butglorifies them.

Now we need to goback to the throne in

Heaven where we see the perfect holy God ruling. Judgmentis coming because God is the Creator of all things. Man hasrejected the authority of God to govern and is worthy of thewrath of God. But now we hear the host of Heaven praisingthe Lord Jesus Christ for His sacrificial death that madesalvation possible for every “kindred, and tongue, and people,and nation.” Rev 5:9: And they sung a new song, saying, Thouart worthy to take the book, and to open the seals thereof: forthou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy bloodout of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

Before judgment comes to this wicked world and before wesee sinners cast into the Lake of Fire, our understanding ofGod’s right to rule as Creator in chapter 4. Now we see Christis seen as worthy to judge the world because He paid the pricefor them to be saved and they rejected it. Their lust for sin, their unbelief all made them reject the only Savior. Many pointto the great love of God and use it as a reason to teach thereis no Hell but God shows that this world that they are worthy

of His wrath because they rejected His love. Christ was thegreatest and most loving preacher that has ever preached. Letus examine His message and see how He preached. Accordingto John Blanchard in his book “Whatever Happened to Hell?”there was a study of our Lord’s messages and found thefollowing surprising results.“It has been calculated that of 1870 verses recording wordswhich Jesus spoke, thirteen per cent are about judgment andhell. Jesus spoke more about these two topics than about anyother (angels came second and love third). “The secondsurprise is that of about forty parables Jesus told, more thanhalf of them relate to God’s eternal judgment of sinners.”

Now, I ask this question; is it possible to honor the Lord JesusChrist and dispute His preaching on Hell? I say no. Is itpossible to make the Lake of Fire and sinners disappear (asthe Pope is quoted as saying) without making the other truthsof God’s Word disappear? The answer is obvious. When Jesustold the story of the Rich Man and Lazarus why didn’t the lostman just cease to exist? To say that Jesus did not know thetruth would be blasphemous. I do not know if the Rich Manbelieved in Hell or not while he lived. If he did it was only anintellectual belief and not anything in his heart. When Hellbecame real to him, he saw what was truly important in hisearthly life. When Hell became real to him, he saw the valueof eternal things. When Hell became real to him, he saw theimportance of his lost loved ones being saved. When Hellbecame real to him, he saw how much he needed God ratherthan his earthly treasure. The worst thing about this story ishe came to this awakening too late. It is not too late for us.

Praise from Pioneers

I would like to thank all those from the Holiness Messengerfor the opportunity to tell our story from our pioneer front.

I would also like to thank my wife, my family and our churchfamily for their unceasing labors. I could not do it withoutthem.

During the course of sharing ourstory, there are three points that I’dlike to make in which I’ll cover thepast, present and future plans ofPerfected Love Holiness Church.First, let me start with thebeginning. I was fifth generation ina denominational organization thathad started as a pioneer work. When my great-grandmotherreceived the baptism of the HolyGhost in the early 1900's, it sparkedthe Pentecostal fire burning withinour family which has carried ondown to my children. My wife, who was third generation inthe church, and I began, over a period of time, to realize shiftsaway from the Pentecostal roots of biblical doctrine within thechurch body. We realized our work in the church was in vainas we watched our fruits of labor torn down in the name ofgrowth and emotionalism with no power over sin. II Timothy3:5 'Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof:from such turn away.'

God began to deal with me about rekindling revival fires fromthe embers of the past culminating in my being led into a 10day fast during which He called me out to begin a new workand return to sound doctrine. I was looking for God to restorethe Holy Ghost convictions to our denomination not a calling;however, God knew what he wanted for my family and I. Ofparticular concern to me was how my family would react tothis new directive since our world was wrapped into thisorganization. I needed for God to work on both ends and hehad. When I told my wife about what the Lord had done in meshe revealed that God had been dealing with her as well.

Only God could give peace about such a move! Piece by pieceGod started putting the puzzle together including preparingthe hearts of our children as well. July 2010, we started withmy family and a handful of friends meeting in a house. Thearea would only hold around 20, so, a year later, we tore outa back wall to expand to hold around 40. After staying in thatbuilding for 6 years we began to search out land to build an

established place for the church. We looked at several locationsand eventually found land just down the road on a mainhighway. The land had large trees and an old abandoned housethat would all have to be cleared. We made an offer we couldafford not knowing if they’d accept such a price, but, Praisethe Lord, they did! We were able to buy the land and startclearing everything. Phase 1 was to build the social hall.

That’s where we are now. We hold church services andfellowships in the 2,800 square foot steel building. We areworking towards Phase 2 which will be the sanctuaryconstruction and will seat around 200 people. One of ouroutreach ministries is a bus ministry for children. We have ashuttle bus named Maxx that makes Sunday morning trips to

pick up around 10-20 kids a week.Teaching them in Sunday schooland children’s church has allowedus to see many kids come and grow.In addition, we have a tent that canhold approximately 500 people inwhich we try to do community tentrevivals every year. God has givenus a burden for Swainsboro, GA.Emanuel County has a populationof over 22,000 people, mostly ruralareas. Going door-to-door isanother vital outreach and we makeweekly trips to try to reach souls inthe highways and the hedges,

compelling them to come in. 'And the lord said unto theservant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compelthem to come in, that my house may be filled.' Luke 14:23

For the future of Perfected Love Holiness church, we arepraying for souls and soldiers. We want to see the honest heartsin our harvest. But we, as a young pioneer work, are prayingfor workers. We need God-fearing people who have a realburden for the lost. God has gloriously blessed our family byequipping us with the time and talent to work in this pioneerfront. Pioneering doesn’t come without challenges whenyou’re digging out a community with no true presence ofholiness. We were told that there were hundreds of holinesspeople here in years past; however, they’ve moved from therural town to the larger cities or just given up on holiness. When you compound that with establishing your church in afellowship where you’re the new kid, this can be challenging. But thankfully, we have met many gracious people whofellowship with us and support our efforts when we havemeetings. They will never know how refreshing they are inencouraging us like a fresh drink of water.

Many have pioneered works themselves and understand thestruggles and breakthroughs faced in pioneering. Where one“family” walked away from us another “family” has taken usin. We love the church that Christ died for and each of you. Please take a moment in your prayers to call out our name.God Bless you all. The psalmist compares a righteous man to a tree that bringsforth fruit in its season. Spiritual fruit has a season too. However, the laws of spiritual seasons are governeddifferently than the laws of natural seasons. Certainly one rulethat governs spiritual fruit and spiritual seasons is the law ofnecessity. We are told to covet earnestly the best gifts. Thebest gift is clearly the gift that is needed. It is the same withspiritual fruit. Of course these fruits go together. It would be

hard to separate them, but there aredefinitely moments when ‘peace’ or‘gentleness’ or ‘faith’ are in thegreatest demand.

So it is with this fruit of longsuffering. These fruits do not manifest suddenlylike the gifts of the Spirit do.These fruits develop as we livein the Spirit and cultivate arelationship with God. As Hislife grows in us, His fruits

become real in our life. In this difficult world, the uniquefruit of longsuffering is exactly what we, and thosearound us, surely need. Bro. Tim Blevins will tell usabout this lesser known but greatly needed fruit. JKL

to be the same. This common substitution limits ourunderstanding of longsuffering.

The Misunderstanding of Longsuffering (ItsInterpretation) …So, how can such a simple word bemisunderstood? According to R.C. Trench (Synonyms of theNew Testament), the difference between hupomone(“patience”) and makrothumia (“longsuffering”) is that thelatter word expresses patience in respect to persons, and theformer in respect to things. Reducing the interpretation oflongsuffering to patience alone denies us “the queen of virtues”as described by John Chrysostom.

Again, longsuffering specifically relates to our patiencetowards fellow man and not the circumstances of life. We arepatient while waiting for an elevator; we are longsufferingtowards the prankster within who pushed every numbered floorbutton. We are patient while stopped at a red traffic light; weare longsuffering towards the distracted driver in front of uswhen it turns green. We are (a) patient during bouts of sicknessand physical pain; we are longsuffering with those who inflict

emotional pain throughharmful words and deeds. Our appreciation for this fruitcan only be complete whenwe understand thatlongsuffering is not a passivepatience with the happeningsof life but a proactive andpositive patience towardspeople.

The Ministry ofLongsuffering (ItsApplication)… In ourcurrent culture, patience is nolonger a preferred virtue.

Many have admittedly andashamedly “run out of

patience” and “lost their patience.” This reality begs thequestion, if we are so impatient towards necessaryconveniences, how can we expect to be longsuffering towardsinjurious people? Scripture teaches us that longsuffering canonly come from God.

If there is one identifiable attribute of God relative to the peopleof Israel, it is His longsuffering (Ex. 34:6; Num. 14:18; Ps.86:15). God’s longsuffering, according to B.L. Goddard,“expresses His goodness and forbearance as He endures thesinner’s persistent obstinacy and wickedness and tirelessly callshim to repentance rather than to visit him with immediatejudgment.” Thankfully, God’s longsuffering is notdiscriminatory. Paul reminds us God is “slow to anger” andjudgment because He has an abundance of longsuffering (Rom.2:4). God’s riches of longsuffering have yet to be depleted. If

The Fruit of the Spirit is…Longsuffering…Is thetomato a fruit? Botanically speaking, yes, it is.Regardless, few of us connoisseurs and chefs treat it assuch. The tomato is generally omitted from the fruitfamily as a result. Its exclusion is undoubtedly attributedto the expectation that fruit is sweet. However, some fruitis bitter. Sweet fruit will always be popular while bitterfruit (e.g., grapefruit) is rationed to the dieter.Nevertheless, even the seemingly bitter virtue oflongsuffering is a fruit.

The Meaning of Longsuffering (Its Definition)The fourthFruit of the Spirit, longsuffering, breaks up easily into twowords and simply means to “suffer long.” Our English wordin the New Testament rendered “longsuffering”, makrothumia,is literally “long-tempered.” Its Greek root word is thumos, which means anger, wrath or indignation. Thus, longsufferingis “holding back or restraining” feelings of anger.

Longsuffering is defined today by Webster’s as “patientlybearing difficulties or wrongs.” Synonyms such as patience, endurance, constancy, forbearance, perseverance, andsteadfastness help us further understand its already simplemeaning. Most modern Bible translations have convenientlyreplaced the fruit of “longsuffering” with “patience.” We,likewise, regularly interchange these two words thinking them

longsuffering is an attribute of God and administered by Him,what then is its ministry purpose?

As its author, God has both demonstrated and determined theministry of longsuffering. We discover its ministry through ourown personal experience with God. For it was God’slongsuffering towards us that brought us salvation (2 Pet. 3:9,15). D.S. Briscoe (Spirit Life) writes, “The patience of God isdesigned to extend the day of grace.” With such an evidentministry of salvation, we must endeavor to possesslongsuffering. Our demonstration of longsuffering will promoteits proven ministry.

For each minister, it is worth noting that longsuffering affirmsour ministry (2 Cor. 6:4-6). Longsuffering is included in Paul’sevidential list for preachers along with purity, knowledge, kindness, the Holy Ghost, and love. Ministers limit theirministry if void of longsuffering. Paul admonishes preachersto “exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine” (2 Tim. 4:2).Since congregants are not so easily convinced or changed, wemay need to preach the same message multiple times (with adifferent title of course). We may need to “pray withoutceasing.” We may need to linger during an altar call. We mayneed to “speak the truth in love” repeatedly. Each of these isaccomplished with longsuffering in an attempt to fulfill itsministry of salvation.

No Christian is exempt from or deprived of the ministry oflongsuffering. This must accompany each Christian’s walk andvocation (Eph. 4:1-2). “As the elect of God”, we are instructedto adorn longsuffering (Col. 3:12) and make it “fully known”(2 Tim. 3:10) and fashionably apparent in our life. As God’slongsuffering towards humanity is obvious, it must, likewise,be recognized in our dealings with others. There is no mistakingthis fruit-kind when it is genuinely borne of the Christian.Longsuffering is easily discerned by saint and sinner alike.

Conversely, longsuffering is not as easily demonstrated. It isan impossible fruit to cultivate without God because it involveshurt, pain, and suffering…for an extended length of time. (Thefruit of the Spirit is not “short-suffering” despite our wishfulthinking.) No doubt, this is why Paul prayed for the church ofColossae, among other things, to be “strengthened…unto…longsuffering with joyfulness” (Col. 1:11).Longsuffering is easily plucked from the Christian’s fruit-ladentree by the passerby and, therefore, must be replenished andrenewed through God in prayer.

The longsuffering of God leads to repentance. Ministers mustbe longsuffering with the gospel message. Christians mustpractice it as evidence of their own salvation. It is obvious tome that longsuffering has a ministry focused on salvation. Inclosing, when you are tempted to “lose patience” with someone, remember how longsuffering God has been with you. And justas God’s longsuffering towards us led to our salvation, ourlongsuffering towards others may lead to theirs. May this –dare we say – sweet fruit of longsuffering and its ministry beprevalent in all our lives! -Rev. Tim Blevins

A Time to PlantEccl. 3:1-2

By the time you read this, Summer will be officially here. The weather here, in Kentucky, is warming up. The

flowers are blooming and the Kentucky bluegrass is beautiful. It’s tempting to prop your feet up, drink a little lemonade, andforget about all you need to do. Yet, It’s time to plant.

We have seasons in our lives just like nature has seasons. When our children are young and we have more strength, weneed to plant. This is the time to plant seeds of discipline, dedication, direction. As a mother, this takes consistency. Oh,how we are tempted to take too many breaks during this timeof cultivation. Be careful Mom, howmany times that you “drop the kidsoff” with someone else so that youcan have a much needed break.Realize that someone else is doingthe cultivating. Someone else istending your field, but YOU will dothe reaping! I know that you needrefreshing, or time with your spouse, but in the warm season of planting, please don’t neglect your littleflowers. When the season comes to reap, it may not be whatyou expected. It might be far from even what you want.

I realize people have a will of their own. Even though wecultivate their lives, they must still make their own decisions. Our hope is to train them. You can “train a vine” to grow in acertain direction. That is our hope as a parent. We want to trainthem to make the right decisions when it comes their time tomake them. As a mom, and pastors wife, I’m very concernedabout an individuals will. I’ve prayed about my children’s willand about the free will of church members. I even pray for thelost and their will. God can soften a person through turmoilmuch like we soften the ground with some tool. God can bendsomeone’s will through hardship. Yet I’ve seen hardship comeand the sinners will is not broken. Keep praying.

So, as we cultivate our little fields during different seasons, remember that they have a free will. This applies to thechildren in our homes and the new converts in our church. Myhusband and I were recently discussing 2 Tim chapter 2:24-26.

“And the servant of the Lord must not strive; but be gentleunto all men, apt to teach, patient, In meekness instructingthose that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will givethem repentance to the acknowledging of the truth; And that

Page 8: “Hell is Real”holinessmessenger.com/uploads/3/5/3/9/35396344/may_june.pdf · “Hell is Real” (Continued, Page 3) Luke 16:23, “And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments,

Page 8

they may recover themselves out of thesnare of the devil, who are taken captiveby him at his will.” The devil has a willtoo, and it is to destroy what we have!

Teaching the Word of God withmeekness can open someone’s eyes andGod can grant them repentance. As youteach your family, and others, realizethat the power of Gods word can setthem free from the will of our enemy. Ittakes consistency and patience, as youcultivate, to reap a good harvest. I’vewatched a loved one suffer terriblesickness and never yield his will. Nowin his older years, he “prays” everydaybut without repentance. Some havecreated what they think is salvation. They’ve heard that you must be baptizedfirst before you’re saved, but they haverejected the truth. Surely, they say, aGod of love won’t send me to hell If Ipray to him everyday and get baptized. My prayer is that they might findrepentance.

Moms, if I could only stress howimportant it is to “cultivate” your littleones now. Plant seeds of the word ofGod. Several years ago, a young motherand new convert asked me how to teachher son; her husband was lost. I told herto teach him scripture - have himmemorize it! He may not understand thewords that he is saying, but some day hewill. In the Old Testament, the Jewswere told to talk of the laws of God intheir homes. They were training anothergeneration. Plant, Christian! Plant, parent! Plant, Sunday school teacher!Because someday, in another season, wewill reap.

FAMILIES OF FAITH…Choose you this day whom you will

serve…as for me and my house, we willserve the Lord. Josh. 24:15

I heard you praying, son,' began theolder minister to his grandson who

was many miles away preaching a tentrevival, thereby, in just a few words, blasting yet another hole in the theoryof Cessationism touted by so many whobegan their messages about the bygoneday of miracles as being taken from thebook of the Acts of the (Only) Apostles. While we agree in theory and principlethat God is not usingmen as He did theApostles to enhance thecanon of scripture wedo not adhere to thenotion that he ceasedworking miracles withthe death of the ApostlePaul. God still hears andanswers prayer directlyfor his people today. Itmay be true that in somecases the resultsexpected are not seen;however, the fault liesin us rather than Him.Just as the time we readof in I Samuel wherethe light had beenallowed to go out in the temple yet whenthe innocent child heard the voicecalling his name, 'Samuel,' the old priestafter a few moments realized what washappening, God was speaking. Theproblem was not that God couldn'tspeak, but rather, He had no one worthyof hearing His voice. The fuel used bythe cessationists comes from a lack ofcommitment on the part of His believerstoday.

The conversation mentioned at thebeginning was an interchange betweena young, relatively inexperiencedminister trying to follow the Lord andhis older, Godly grandfather. The youngman was in Saskatchewan, Canada, preaching a tent meeting for a man hehad met at the annual Bristow HolinessMeeting. The young minister was

staying in the basement of an olderresident of Canada, performingeverything in the service including, butnot limited to, starting service, singing, praying, testifying, taking up theoffering, praying with the people aroundthe altars. The crowds ranged in sizefrom four to forty. The older ministerwas in Florida preaching a meeting andhad NEVER been to Canada. How did

this happen? How wasBrother LD Moore ableto hear a young BrotherBrent Moore travailingbefore God? Because hehad fully given himselfto a life of the pursuit ofChrist. To paraphrase aconversation I heardrecounted, a youngerminister asked BrotherMoore how he obtainedthe power and kinshipwith the Lord hepossessed to which hereplied, 'Some nightswhen others go to bed Igo to prayer and whenthey wake up the next

morning I am still praying. This liferequires things that some don't want topay.' God hasn't ceased working.... Quitesimply, we have ceased having thatburning desire to do whatever isnecessary to have that deeply connectedfellowship with Christ.

Finally what level of burden do we havefor our children? How in tune are wewith the throne of grace in our burdenfor our family? Even the worldrecognizes a breakdown in the familyand ponders how to correct the situation.Dewayne Friend sand a song, It’s abattlefield brother, not a recreationroom, it’s a fight and not game.” Let uspray on purpose and with a purpose.

Principles of Prophecy

“The Regathering of Israel”

President Trump moved the US embassy in Israel to the cityof Jerusalem. This move solidifies the truths that Jerusalem isJewish and that it belongs to the Jews. It also ensures the eyesof the nations of the world remain focused on Israel and theMiddle East. God calls Israel “His Land”. The Lord sees Zionas “beautiful for situation.” Presidents from both US politicalparties have promised to move the embassy but failed to do so.It is very significant that the U.S and severalother countries are recognizing Jerusalemas the capital of Israel.

There have been several dozen Palestinianskilled for rioting and protesting thismonumental decision. It is not just acoincidence that we are seeing this in ourday; this is a fulfillment of scriptures. Thenation of Israel had to return to their landand be in control of their own governmentfor the bible to be fulfilled. Many peoplenever thought Israel would ever be asovereign nation again. After all, it had beenmany centuries since they governedthemselves and had established borders intheir own land. Even though peoplepredicted it would take years to move ourembassy from Tel-Aviv to Jerusalem ithappened in just a few months. I believe itis all part of bringing prophecies of thebible to fruition. Israel has to be a sovereign nation before itcan sign a covenant with the Anti-Christ, an act that, when itoccurs, will bring the Tribulation.

Also, Israel must be in charge of the temple mount where theDome of Rock Mosque now stands, because the bible declaresthere will be a third temple. There are many obstacles facingthe Jewish people today; however, God has already declaredthe end of the story! After the temple is rebuilt there are manyqualifications to be considered such as the requirement thatpriests must be of the tribe of Levi; however, I have read thereare already over 500 young men who are Levites and havecompleted their training to fulfill the duties of the templepriesthood. According to Chuck Missler and others, therequirement of a red heifer to sacrifice for the water ofpurification has been considered and they have been workingon that for years and have actually produced them.

The Dome of the Rock poses no small problem yet considerwhat happened in the six day war. When God gets ready things

can happen very rapidly. I have read that the Jews could putthe Temple up in just a few days; some say it is alreadypre-fabbed and waiting but, yea or nay, it could be put upalmost over-night. The bible says the sacrifices will be stoppedand that means there must be a Third Temple!

So, let us look at the omniscience of God. Ezekiel, in Ch. 37was taken by the Spirit of God and shown a valley of dry bones.Ezekiel 37:1-2 says: “The hand of the LORD was upon me,and carried me out in the spirit of the LORD, and set me downin the midst of the valley which was full of bones, And causedme to pass by them round about: and, behold, there were verymany in the open valley; and, lo, they were very dry.” Thisdescribes people that are not just dead, but a people that havebeen dead for a very, very long time! This is exactly where thenation of Israel was in 1948 and had been for a very long time.God here was telling Ezekiel, and us, that no matter how

impossible the situation looked or inactuality it was, He was going to revive thenation again, and establish them back totheir own land.

What a powerful prophecy! Only a God thatcan do anything can foretell and bring topass such a thing. It is fascinating toobserve the people of Jewish descent thatmigrate to Israel from the US as well asfrom all over the world. The internallonging for the homeland is somethingbigger than themselves. Something morethan just sentimentalism or emotionalism. The drawing comes from the power of God.There were 800,000 Jews in Israel in 1948.Now there are more than 6,000,000 - anaddition of over three quarters of a millionpeople per decade! Never before has anation of people lost their language forcenturies and regained it all again.

I believe that the prophecy is two-part. After the eighth versein Ezekiel 37 these bones had sinews, flesh, and skin, but nobreath. I believe this describes the current state of the nationof Israel. They are back together, just as bone came to his bone, they are covered with flesh and skin. They have natural breathand are alive physically; they are just not spiritually alive yet.I believe that the breath that the Lord commands to come intothese bones represents the Spirit of God and that He is sayingthey will not only live physically but spiritually.

Paul said in Romans 11:26, “And so all Israel shall be saved:as it is written, There shall come out of Sion the Deliverer, andshall turn away ungodliness from Jacob:” We also read inZechariah 12:10, “And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace andof supplications: and they shall look upon me whom they havepierced, and they shall mourn for him, as one mourneth for hisonly son, and shall be in bitterness for him, as one that is in

Special Servicesbitterness for his firstborn.” Israel hasgreat and precious promises as does thechurch. One does not invalidate theother.

When Israel became a nation again in itsown homeland, this was the greatest signthat we are in the last days. We havegotten used to the fact that Israel is backhome; however, do not get too relaxedbecause May 14, 1948 still has greatsignificance. Jewish people from all overthe world are making their way to Israel. They have never been there before intheir lives yet they are pulling up stakesand leaving everything familiar to themincluding homes, jobs, and families inanswer to an inner drawing. Isaiah 43:5-6 says “Fear not: for I am with thee: Iwill bring thy seed from the east, andgather thee from the west; I will say tothe north, Give up; and to the south,Keep not back: bring my sons from far,and my daughters from the ends of theearth;” It is the design of God to bringthe Jews back to Israel where Jerusalemwill be their eternal capital. Even theway it was established was prophesiedin Isaiah 66:8 “Who hath heard such athing? who hath seen such things? Shallthe earth be made to bring forth in oneday? or shall a nation be born at once?for as soon as Zion travailed, shebrought forth her children.” A nation isborn in a day!

Israel will never be uprooted or drivenout of their land again. Amos 9:15 says“And I will plant them upon their land, and they shall no more be pulled up outof their land which I have given them, saith the LORD thy God.” It is hard forme to imagine people leaving the UnitedStates of America. Leaving the securityof the greatest army in the world, goodjobs, nice homes, just to go to Israelwhere there are bombs, rockets, constantthreats, and terrorist activity.

There are over one million bomb sheltersin Israel. They are decorated in manybright colors which allows them to beeasily recognized and it alleviates stresson the children. These shelters doublefrom everything ranging from bus stopsto synagogues depending upon their size. Some entire schools are encased withreinforced concrete with blast-proof

windows. When the air-raid sirens soundthe alarm Israelis have from 15 secondsto 3 minutes to get into a bomb shelterdepending on where they live. Someunderground parking garages areequipped to become hospitals that canaccommodate thousands of people whoneed care. Hamas and Hezbollah haveliterally fired thousands of rockets andmortar shells into Israel since 2001.Think about all this and still, the peoplecontinue flocking to Israel to live.

Some Jewish people feel as though Godis pulling them back to Israel. Others saythey are not a part of the heritage andculture anywhere else but Israel and, therefore, they want to raise theirchildren in Israel steeped in their Jewishhistory. There is a very interestingprophecy in the book of Jeremiah 3:14which states “…and I will take you oneof a city, and two of a family, and I willbring you to Zion:” I read about twopeople that were European Jews whomet on a plane going to Israel and didn’tknow each other at all. They began torelate stories one to another and learnedthey were of the same family eventhough they were from different cities. What an unbelievable prophecy. Onlythe God of all creation could accomplishsuch a thing.

I will close with Matthew 24:32-33where Jesus said, “Now learn a parableof the fig tree; When his branch is yettender, and putteth forth leaves, ye knowthat summer is nigh: So likewise ye,when ye shall see all these things, knowthat it is near, even at the doors.” Manypeople believe this is speaking of Israelsaying the fig tree bringing forth leavesrepresents Israel becoming anindependent nation again. When thishappens all things are wrapping up to theend, “even at the doors.” This generationshall not pass till all be fulfilled. It hasbeen 70 years since this has taken placeand if we are not careful we will forgethow monumental this event really is,pertaining to prophecy. So, let us beawake as children of light and bewatchful for we know not the day northe hour that the Lord cometh.
