“Dreadful Consequences” Lesson: Genesis 3:14-24 GOLDEN TEXT : “Because thou hast...eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, „Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.‟” — Genesis 3:17 TODAY’S AIM: ―To understand that sin separates us from God.‖ INTRODUCING THE LESSON : Perhaps we all remember times when we as children were taken back to the store by our parents to return some small item that we had taken without permission. We had to say that we were sorry, and we found it humiliating. But it was necessary for us to learn that sin has real consequences. There is always a consequence to sin. This week we learn the consequences that came to Adam and Eve for their disobedienceconsequences that are still with us today. PRACTICAL POINTS: 1. When we choose sin, we also choose its consequences (Genesis 3: 14-15). 2. Sin destroys our relationship with God and exposes us to pain that God never intended for us (Genesis 3:16). 3. Disobedience allows toil and sorrow to infect relationships, activities, and places that once brought us joy (Genesis 3:17-19). 4. When your life seems to lie in shambles, trust God and look to Him as your hope for restoration (Genesis 3:20). 5. God always cares for His own (Genesis 3:21). 6. God’s grace limits the consequences of man's sin (Genesis 3:22-24). CONCLUDING THE LESSON: In our society today, we seem to have lost our sense of what sin is. What our grandparents considered sin does not seem to be considered sin anymore. Adam and Eve knew what was morally right and wrong. We need to make right choices and be aware of sin’s consequences. “Dreadful Consequences”

Lesson: Genesis 3:14-24

GOLDEN TEXT:

“Because thou hast...eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, „Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life.‟” — Genesis 3:17

TODAY’S AIM:

―To understand that sin separates us from God.‖

INTRODUCING THE LESSON:

Perhaps we all remember times when we as children were taken

back to the store by our parents to return some small item that we had

taken without permission. We had to say that we were sorry, and we

found it humiliating. But it was necessary for us to learn that sin has

real consequences. There is always a consequence to sin. This week

we learn the consequences that came to Adam and Eve for their

disobedience—consequences that are still with us today.

PRACTICAL POINTS:

1. When we choose sin, we also choose its consequences (Genesis

3: 14-15).

2. Sin destroys our relationship with God and exposes us to pain that

God never intended for us (Genesis 3:16).

3. Disobedience allows toil and sorrow to infect relationships, activities,

and places that once brought us joy (Genesis 3:17-19).

4. When your life seems to lie in shambles, trust God and look to Him

as your hope for restoration (Genesis 3:20).

5. God always cares for His own (Genesis 3:21).

6. God’s grace limits the consequences of man's sin (Genesis 3:22-24).

CONCLUDING THE LESSON:

In our society today, we seem to have lost our sense of what sin is.

What our grandparents considered sin does not seem to be considered

sin anymore.

Adam and Eve knew what was morally right and wrong. We need to

make right choices and be aware of sin’s consequences.

“I Am on the Battlefield”

Refrain

I am on the battlefield for my Lord,

I’m on the battlefield for my Lord;

And I promised Him that I Would serve Him till I die.

I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.

1

I was alone and idle, I was a sinner, too;

I heard a voice from heaven, ―Say, there is work to do.‖

I took the Master’s hand, And I joined the Christian band;

I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.

Refrain: I am on the battlefield for my Lord,

I’m on the battlefield for my Lord;

And I promised Him that I Would serve Him till I die.

I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.

2

I left my friends and kindred Bound for the Promised Land,

The grace of God upon me, The Bible in my hand;

In distant lands I trod, Crying, ―Sinner, come to God.‖

I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.

Refrain: I am on the battlefield for my Lord,

I’m on the battlefield for my Lord;

And I promised Him that I Would serve Him till I die.

I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.

3

Now when I met my Savior, I met Him with a smile,

He healed my wounded spirit, And owned me as His child.

Around the throne of grace, He appoints my soul a place;

I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.

Refrain: I am on the battlefield for my Lord,

I’m on the battlefield for my Lord;

And I promised Him that I Would serve Him till I die.

I’m on the battlefield for my Lord.
