A Message from the

Chamber CEO... Promote Your Business at the Spring Golf Tournament The Tracy Chamber of Commerce will present the 10th Annual Spring Golf Tournament on Monday, May 22nd at the Tracy Golf & Country Club. As a member of the Chamber, I encourage you to participate in this event to promote your business.

Chamber events are a great opportunity to meet other business owners, network and make business connections. There are several ways your business can get involved with this event, and I would like to remind you of these opportunities so that you can participate this year or plan ahead for next year to get involved. Members have the opportunity to promote their business by donating a raffle prize for the event. Businesses can donate a raffle basket, gift certificate or any other type of gift. Businesses can also donate (100) promotional items for the goodie bags that will be given to the golfers the day of the event. Raffle prize donations and goodie bag items are generally inexpensive and can prove to be a great way to market your business without physically being at the event. This year the Golf Tournament Committee has successfully sold out all the sponsor opportunities for this event including hole sponsors, lunch/dinner sponsor, beverage cart sponsor and more. These sponsorship opportunities will afford businesses the opportunity to gain visibility and promotion through signage at the event as well as the ability to engage with all the golfers at each hole. Sponsorship packages ranged from $200-$950. If you have not sponsored this event before, I encourage you to consider sponsoring next year. Another opportunity to get involved at this event is to become a volunteer. We need help setting up the event in the morning as well as throughout the day at various holes during the golf tournament. Volunteering can give you the opportunity to network and make connections with golfers and sponsors during the event. We will need volunteers from 9AM-5PM. If you’re interested in receiving more information about any of the opportunities mentioned above, contact the Chamber to find out how to get involved in the Golf Tournament (209)835-2131. For those of you who are sponsoring this event or golfing, thank you for your support and see you at the golf course!

-Sofia Valenzuela, CEO, Tracy Chamber of Commerce

BUSINESS QUOTE OF THE MONTH:

“Challenges are what make life interesting and overcoming them is what makes life meaningful” – Joshua J. Marine

Jumpstart Your Workout Routine!

It’s official, you’re ready to start working out. So now what? Here are 5 ideas to help you get off to a good start.

1. WRITE DOWN YOUR REASONS This may sound silly, but it’s one of the most important things to do after you decide you want to start working out. Are you trying to lose weight? Gain muscle? Prep for an event, like a marathon? Or do you just want to get in better shape. Post your reason on your fridge as your daily motivation. It will keep you going strong every day.

2. SET A GOAL Setting goals isn’t tricky. Just be realistic. If you haven’t been running in years don’t expect to be ready for a marathon in two weeks. Give yourself time to acclimate and find a rhythm with your workouts. The team at In-Shape Health Clubs can help you with this. They offer their members a free FitStart session every year to help set goals.

3. FIND A WORKOUT BUDDY It’s always easier to get a workout done when you’re with a buddy – plus they hold you accountable for showing up! With a buddy, you’re less likely to skip a workout for an excuse like, “I’m tired.” It’s best to find someone who has a similar fitness level to your own, or likes the same activities.

4. SNAP PHOTOS FOR MOTIVATION That’s right—try marking your progress with a picture. It’s so easy to snap a picture with our smart phones. Just take a full-length picture of yourself at the same angle every couple of weeks, and compare your pictures as you go. If you’re staying true to your routine, you’re sure to notice a difference in just a few weeks!

5. REWARD YOURSELF Give yourself a pat on the back for sticking with your new routine! If you’ve lost a few pounds, buy yourself some new workout gear. Or if you’ve stuck to your workout routine for a whole month, get a massage.

The best thing about working out is the increased energy you will have. Once you start the routine it’s easy to work it into your daily schedule. Stop by your local In-Shape Health Club and give it a try for free for 7 days. Visit one of our three clubs in Tracy. Go to www.inshape.com/gyms for location details.
