Corpus Christi Today’s Readings First Reading: Never forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of slavery and fed you with manna in the desert (Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14b-16a). Psalm: Praise the Lord, Jerusalem (Psalm 147). Second Reading: Because the loaf of bread is one, we who partake of it, though we are many, are one body (1 Corinthians 10:16-17). Gospel: Jesus said to the crowds, “I am the living bread; whoever eats this bread will live forever” (John 6:51-58). Readings for the Week Monday: 2 Cor 6:1-10; Ps 98:1, 2b, 3-4; Mt 5:38-42 Tuesday: 2 Cor 8:1-9; Ps 146:2, 5-9a; Mt 5:43-48 Wednesday: 2 Cor 9:6-11; Ps 112:1bc-4, 9; Mt 6:1-6, 16-18 Thursday: 2 Cor 11:1-11; Ps 111:1b-4, 7-8; Mt 6:7-15 Friday: Dt 7:6-11; Ps 103:1-4, 6-8, 10; 1 Jn 4:7-16; Mt 11:25-30 Saturday: Is 49:1-6; Ps 139:1-3, 13-15; Acts 13:22-26; Lk 1:57-66, 80 Sunday: Jer 20:10-13; Ps 69:8-10, 14, 17, 33-35; Rom 5:12-15; Mt 10:26-33 Saints and Special Observances Sunday: The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ; Father’s Day Monday: Eleventh Week in Ordinary Time; St. Romuald Wednesday: St. Aloysius Gonzaga Thursday: St. Paulinus of Nola; Ss. John Fisher and Thomas More Friday: The Most Sacred Heart of Jesus Saturday: The Nativity of St. John the Baptist Scripture Reflection Today’s feast celebrates another central mystery of our faith—the mys-tery of the Eucharist. Like the mystery of the Trinity, the real presence of the Body and Blood of Christ in the Eucharist can never be fully understood, but can only be believed. Just as the Israelites in the desert were invited to put their trust in God’s word to them, we are invited to trust wholly in the word of Jesus. In today’s Gospel Jesus promises to give us a share in his very own flesh and blood, and a share in eternal life besides. We are called to take him at his word and open our hearts to receive true nourishment and life from our participation in the Eucharist. Our Family Prayer Loving and faithful God, through the years the people of our archdiocese have appreciated the prayers and love of Our Lady of Prompt Succor in times of war, disaster, epidemic and illness. We come to you, Father, with Mary our Moth-er, and ask you to help us in the battle of today against violence, murder and racism. We implore you to give us your wisdom that we may build a community founded on the values of Jesus, which gives respect to the life and dignity of all people. Bless parents that they may form their children in faith. Bless and protect our youth that they may be peacemakers of our time. Give consolation to those who have lost loved ones through violence. Hear our prayer and give us the perseverance to be a voice for life and hu-man dignity in our community. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Our Lady of Prompt Succor, hasten to help us. Mother Henriette Delille, pray for us that we may be a holy family. Amen.

Lighthouse Kiosk Stocked with New Materials The lighthouse media kiosk has been restocked with some great new titles. Some are particularly well suited to Father’s Day, such as Pure Fatherhood, a CD by Devin Schadt, and the book, Meet Your Spiritual Father, by Dr. Mark Miravalle. Schadt draws on the example of St. Joseph to show men how to become a father on earth like the Father in heaven. Dr. Miravalle lifts the veil that has shrouded the glorious patriarch, Joseph, for centuries, revealing the treasures and benefits of having an intimate relationship with the virginal father of the Son of God. There also are great summer reading titles and some fun CDs for the kids so they have something to listen to during vacation travels. Thank you to all who have utilized the materials on the kiosk and thank you for all of the donations that we have received which help us restock. 2017—2018 Confirmation Registration Registration forms for the 2017-2018 Confirmation class can be found in the back of church and on the parish website. The St. Catherine of Siena Confirmation program is for parishioners who are juniors and seniors in high school. If you have any questions, contact Michelle Alley, Director of Religious Educa-tion, at [email protected]. Youthful Elders to Meet Next on August 17 There will be no Youthful Elders meeting in June or July. Meetings will resume on August 17. Accurate Guide Book & Directory Information Does our Church database have accurate information for YOUR family? Have you changed your phone number during the past year? Have you moved or are preparing to move? Are all of your children still living at home? Are they included in your membership record? Do you want your record published? Please call the parish office at 835-9343 if there are any changes that we need to make to your family’s record, so that our new Guide Book & Directory is accurate. Thank you for your help! Supper & Substance Committee Forming Here is an opportunity to help plan and carry out “date night” style dinner and speaking events, one in the spring and one in the fall, designed to provide formation and encouragement to married couples at St. Catherine. Supper & Substance commit-tee members will come up with a theme, secure the speaker, decorate, and work with the Knights of Columbus—who do the cooking—in planning a menu. Make new friends and work to-ward strengthening marriages by joining this effort! Contact Carol Rooney at 460-0318 for information or to volunteer.
