Our Condolences to Mrs. Morriscene Thomas and daughters on the loss of their beloved
daughter and sister, Ms. Lujuana L. Thomas; who passed from this world on Wednesday,
March 4th, 2020 in Nashville, Tennessee.
May God grant this family the strength they need to cope with the loss of their loved one. Let us
keep them in our prayers.
Most Reverend Gregory J. Hartmayer. OFM, Conv. Seventh Archbishop of Atlanta
A Joyful and Warm Welcome to our new Archbishop who returns to Atlanta from Savannah where he has
served as Bishop for the past nine years. His return is like a “homecoming” since, before becoming Bishop of Sa-vannah, he has served as pastor of both St. Philip Benizi and St. John Vianney Parishes of the Archdiocese for a total of 16 years. He took his vows as a Conventual
Franciscan in 1970 and was ordained to the priesthood in 1979. Having served as Chair of the Priest Council while pastor here, he is today well known by the majority of the
clergy and many people throughout the Archdiocese.
As we congratulate Archbishop Hartmayer—and our-selves — on this marvelous occasion, we must also thank the Holy Father, Pope Francis, for appointing him as our
new Archbishop. He could not have made a better choice.
Gregory J. Hartmayer will be installed as our Archbishop on Wednesday, May 6, 2020. Meanwhile let us keep him
in our prayers as we thank the Good Shepherd for sending us one who walks
so closely in his footsteps! —Fr. Jerome, C.P.
