Constructing large Flying Geese units 1. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 6 1/2" x 6 1/2" <fabric A> square. Place square, right
sides together, at a corner of (1) 6 1/2" x 12 1/2" <fabric B> rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4"
away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal <fabric A> corner triangle. Repeat with another 6 1/2"
x 6 1/2" <fabric A> square at the other opposite corner of the same 6 1/2" x 12 1/2" <fabric B>
rectangle to complete (1) large Flying Geese unit.
2. Use the described method to make a total number of large Flying Geese units in the following fabric
combinations, fabric used for corner triangle listed first.
10 blocks - white
bee/white circular
7 blocks - dusty
peach/fog; ink blot/fog
6 blocks - black
star/white dandelion;
white bee/black
circular
4 blocks - black
leaf/white bee; white

Constructing small Flying Geese units 1. Draw a diagonal line on the wrong side of (1) 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" <fabric A> square. Place square, right
sides together, at a corner of (1) 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" <fabric B> rectangle. Sew on drawn line. Trim 1/4"
away from sewn line. Open and press to reveal <fabric A> corner triangle. Repeat with another 3 1/2"
x 3 1/2" <fabric A> square at the other opposite corner of the same 3 1/2" x 6 1/2" <fabric B> rectangle
to complete (1) small Flying Geese unit.
Make a total of 16 units each for the following fabric combinations, fabric used for corner triangle
listed first.
ink blot/denim
chalk/dusty pink
black leaf/irongate
black circular/sky
black star/white
dandelion
fog/white bee
ink blot/sky
white dandelion/chalk
2. Arrange and sew together (4) small Flying Geese units together to make a row unit. Make (2) row
units and sew them together to make (1) block, as shown.
Make a total of (8) blocks, and (8) mirror-imaged blocks. Set aside.
Quilt Top Assembly 1. Quilt Top is constructed by sewing large Flying Geese units and small Flying Geese blocks into
pieced rows, and sewing the pieced rows to complete quilt top. Refer to row diagrams, arrange and
sew together large flying geese units and small Flying Geese blocks to make a pieced row.

2. Sew pieced rows together to complete quilt top.
Finishing Instructions 1. With the backing fabric laying taut, place batting and then runner top to form quilt sandwich. Baste quilt
sandwich.
2. Quilt as desired. Square up quilt before adding binding strip, hanging sleeve and label.
