‘Nutribite’- an Innovative Entrepreneurial Project by the Students of Lakshmibai College Though a Self Help Group Nutribite, a unique initiative by the students of Lakshmibai College, made a humble beginning in 2016-2017 and has gradually evolved to establish itself as a small food venture, which provides a variety of snacks with taste, nutrition, safety to the college fraternity. Nutri Bite report 2016 -17 This project was planned in 2016 to provide nutritious and safe food to the students as well as staff of Lakshmibai College and to provide a platform for students to learn entrepreneurial skills on small scale. The Academic and Extracurricular Planning and Implementation Committee (AEPIC) and the Principal approved the project proposal. 15 students of Food Technology volunteered and contributed rupees 50 each to form a Self Help Group with Project Investigator Shikha Sharma, of III year Food Technology as the leader. The college funded the printing of flex banner and provided display boards for putting up the ‘Menu of the Day’ and Feedback. Group messages about the Food plaza and the day’s menu were posted by Whatsapp/ college app a day before and on the day of the sale to attract the customers. The production started in January 2017 and the Nutri Bite team put up 7 stalls between January and April 2017. The student volunteers worked on standardization, costing and other the preliminary and prepared the products fresh on the morning of sale. Nutri Bite team was generous in incorporating vegetables, fruits and whole grains in the recipes to improve the fiber content and the nutrient density. Without compromising on the taste and flavour, the amount of fat and sugar was also lowered during the standardization process. Nutri Bite report, 2017-18 Nutri bite Season 2 was inaugurated by Chairman Prof Babbar and Treasure Prof Ragi. Charu Bhatia and Richa Grover, the Project Investigators carried the team of 15 students successfully and put up 7 stalls serving safe and nutritious savouries and sweets to students and staff of the college throughout the year 2017-18. They also catered on a large scale at the Book Fair organized by the college. The newly purchase tables and canopies provided by the colleges added to the fervor of the stalls. For the Tunisian youth who visited the college under the National International Youth Exchange Program, the Nutri Bite team prepared and served traditional Indian snacks, which were relished and highly appreciated by the foreign visitors. ‘Nutribite’- an Innovative Entrepreneurial Project by the Students of

Khushboo led the Project Investigators led a team of 17 students successfully and to

put up many stalls serving safe and nutritious savouries and sweets to students and

staff of the college through out the year. A stall on Innovative Biscuits was put up in

October at the Book Fair. A gala sale of Corn Cheese Balls, Sunshine Delight and

Muffins was successfully organized successfully on 7th February.

Nutri Bite report, 2019-20

Nutri Bite entered Season 4 under the strong leadership of Megha Jindal of BA

(Prog) FT III year, who as the Project Investigator, led a team of 12 students

successfully to put up seven stalls serving safe and nutritious savouries and sweets to

students and staff of the college through out the year. A stall on innovative biscuits

was put up in October. Cranberry muffins, Pineapple Upside Down cakes, Rainbow

canapés & Nutri Sevpuri and Beetroot Dimsums, prepared and sold in the months of

January and February, were greatly appreciated by the staff and students.

In nutshell, Nutri Bite project could sustain itself due to the hard work and

commitment of the core project team. Ample support was received from the principal,

the staff and students. Feedback was extremely encouraging for the Nutri Bite team.

Some comments received from the faculty were “Mouth watering. Yummy meals” "

Excellent work by FT Dept., Awesome food. Keep it up. Some of the students’

feedback comments were :“Loved both the snack, "We love Nutri bites." Yummy

loved it! Keep it up guzs awesome effort!" All the best Khana Khazana.”" Amazing

muffins. All the best! Keep rocking KHANA DETE REHNA!”

This endeavor taught the student team some basics of catering business, instilled some

entrepreneurial skills, enriched the culinary skills, inculcated some creativity and

boosted the confidence of team students. It also addressed the felt need of the staff

and students to have access to safe and nutritious food in the college.

NUTRI BITE Season 1, 2016-17 was initiated on 5th January 2017 to make available

safe and nutritious snacks to the college students. Shikha Sharma, the Principal Investigator

of the project, formed and led successfully a self-help group of fifteen students to prepare and

serve safe, healthy and delicious cupcakes and savoury snacks in the college premises.
