SEED GERMINATION

Seed germination is the first step in plant growth.

The seeds get favorable signals from the environment and inputs internally metabolic activities it resumes growth.

Oxygen and water are two essential factors required for germination.

First the seed absorb water by imbibition and swells up considerably then the radicle elongates and protrude out through the micro Pyle gives rise to the root.

The stored polysaccharides and proteins get hydrolyzed to release energy for various activities.

The red light is most effective for the on set of germination.
