ANU Climate News amp EventsJuly 2017
Dear reader With recent research highlighting that average global temperatures may exceed
the 15oC target as quickly as 2026 its becoming apparent that reducing ourgreenhouse gas emissions is unlikely to be enough to prevent dangerousclimate change To maintain a safe climate we also need to explore how wecan remove these gases from the atmosphere The Climate Change Instituteis facilitating a process of connecting experts across ANU to research differentdimensions of this challenge (known as negative emissions) - please watch ourvideo below to find out more
This week were delighted to welcome Dr Valeacuterie Masson-Delmotte Co-Chair ofthe Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change Working Group I to ANU Tickets to our public lecture on Climate Change A global science update(featuring Valeacuterie and other experts) are booked out but well release a podcastof the event and you can also hear her discussing her research on ice cores onThursday at the 2017 Jaeger-Hales lecture (see below)
Regards
