The weather may not have lived up to expec- tation but the clubs of Antrim enjoyed large attendances at their annual Kellogg’s Cul Camps. 24 clubs held camps with 16 of those clubs running Saffron Og camps alongside their Cul Camps. St Agnes and St Patricks Lisburn successfully ran two camps. St Marys Ahoghill ran a camp for the first time with 81 children attending the Cul Camp and 42 Saf- fron Og. Ardoyne Kick- hams also held their first Kellogg’s Cul Camp with 47 Cul camp & 16 Saf- fron Og attending. The total number of atten- dees at the Cul Camps was 1,630 and Saffron Ogs had 342. The Cul Camps, however, could not be run without the 200 co-ordinators, coaches and club volun- teers who give up their time to ensure the chil- dren had a week jam packed with fun through Gaelic Games. We would like to congratulate all the clubs, their coordina- tors and coaches for ensuring their Camps ran smoothly and safely for all participants. Head of Rugby) culminating in an exhibition of games at Eaton Park home of Bally-mena Rugby prior to a sen-ior rugby game. Not only did the players benefit from the initiative but the coaches were able to exchange ideas and training tech-niques which can be carried across to their respective games. The initiative was created by All Saints due to large numbers of young-sters playing both rugby and Gaelic Sports. This initiative will help both clubs to retain players & to exchange ex-

pertise to improve training

and coaching structures.

Clash of the Ash on Rathlin History was made on Sat 11th August when 3 North Antrim U12 teams took part in a hurling blitz on Rathlin Island. The venture, supported by Ulster Council GAA, North Antrim Divisional Board and Rathlin Development & Community Association (RDCA) took place in glori-ous sunshine with Glenshesk, Oisins and Ruairi Ogs competing in an U12 7-a-side competi-

tion for the Sciath na nOg

Shield. Kieran Megraw, Ulster Regional Hurling De-velopment Officer, Sambo Mc Naughton, Active Com-munity Coach for Moyle DC & North Antrim Board Com-mittee members welcomed the teams, mentors, fami-lies and friends who trav-elled to the event. In a hard fought competition, Oisins came out as winners. Fol-lowing the medals presenta-tion, players and mentors enjoyed a meal before

boarding the ferry back to

Ballycastle. It is hoped that this tournament will be-come an annual fixture in

the North Antrim calendar.
