Vibration Isolation Platform

A Vibration Isolation Platform (VIP or Platform) cuts o� the transmission of vibrations from the tabletop or counter top into a precision instrument or piece of equipment that sits on top of the Platform. Examples of precision instruments and equipment that are candidates for isolation with a VistekVIP include microscopes, sample preparation tools, and hardness testers.

Vistek isolation technology is superior to air technology. First, Vistek Platforms are passive, mechanical and maintenance free. � ere are no air hoses or supporting hardware required. Second, Vistek Platforms isolate e� ectively for the horizontal and vertical vibration components. � e superior performance of the Vistek Platforms in all six degreesof freedom combined with the products’ compact and elegant design makes the Vistek Platform the best choice for eliminating unwanted vibrations.

� e Platform is comprised of a black powder coated steel plate and three or four Vistek Vibration Isolation Bearings. � ere are two series of Platforms: � e Series 320 VIP and the Series 3200 VIP.

Platform is available in the following sizes: 12” x 18”, 16” x 16”, 18” x 24”, and 24” x 30”. For each of these

platform sizes, there exists a speci� c part number that should be selected depending upon

the weight of the instrument to be isolated.

Series 3200 VIP - � e Platform design matches the footprint of the speci� c instrument you wish toisolate. Vistek manufactures Series 3200 VIPs formicroscopes by Carl Zeiss, Leica Microsystems, Nikon and Olympus, and for hardness testers by Wilson Instruments.

Series 320 Isolation Vibration Platform Selecting the Correct Part Number

In order to select the correct part number, you will need to know the weight of the instrument to be isolated and the plan dimen-sions of the base of the instrument.

Understanding the Part Number System

e Vistek PN system is very simple. Once you understand it, it will be easy to select the correct part number from the Size Selection Chart.

e Size Selection Chart is printed in an organized manner in categories determined � rst by the plan dimensions of the plat-form plate. Within the plate dimension categories, numerous part numbers can be selected depending upon the weight of the instrument to be isolated.

Selecting the Correct Part Number is aTwo-Step Process.

Step No. One – Determine the plan dimensions of the small-est plate that the instrument will � t on. e VIP320 series is available in the following plate sizes: 12” x 18”, 16” x 16”, 18” x 24”, and 24” x 30”.

Step No. Two – From the Size Selection Chart, select a plat-form with the proper plate dimensions that has a payload range that brackets the weight of the instrument to be isolated. If you have more than one choice, then select the platform that has a payload mid-range weight isolating capacity that is closest to the weight of the instrument to be isolated.

Example - Microscope weighs 60 lbs., and the microscope base footprint is 11” x 15”.

You can select either a 12” x 18” or a 16” x16” plate. You should select either the VIP320-1218-3080 or the VIP320-1616-2580.
