NEW GRAFFITI SPOT NEW JOYS !“AU BORD De L'EAU is a beautiful community project born in April thanks to the inhabitants of Brussels ( Laeken canal area) who managed to reopen a park that was closed because of the presence of a very expensive Belgian sculpture presence of a very expensive Belgian sculpture there. The chief of that project came to find me after she saw my Love Bomb mural and the team proposed me to help them reinvent the space. A couple of trees, green grass, blue sky, and the fresh air of the canal convinced me with their vibe ! They got big containers and You know how much I love to paint big !”

Painting the design of Peniche Fulmar (graphic design job) with Enamel & Brush - Live painting - Spray , Graffiti - on plastic sheet with a new creative artwork of mine, size - 3m x 2m.

“Really happy of the result of my live painting for the Haven Feest in Brussels, Peniche Fulmar. The 'Love Brigade' is another cute duo I designed during this winter and that I finally made alive outdoor! Rarely using stencil technique, I am happy I managed to make a clean and efficient job with only 2 layers! On top I added my free hand skills with the organic abstract style I have developed since I started graffiti, and that I was kind of missing recently. I realized my DNA lies

developed since I started graffiti, and that I was kind of missing recently. I realized my DNA lies in abstract and I should never ever give up on it. To me it's the most vibrant aspect of my work, a nice blend of motion, energy and smoothness.

Also happy about a rare thing: using a black background. The happiness of the scene balances well the dark side. All in all a very contrasted work just like I like to do. In addition, I can tell that being back in Europe brings me back to a sharper style with less prominent amount of colours contrary to my time in Asia. This piece is now permanently exhibited at Peniche Fulmar on the outside. I am also glad I made people happy. That counts a lot to me ! “

Anthea Missy is an artist from Brussels with French roots. She manages to stand out with her own style of flowing, organic forms and figures with a positive message.

In response to the recent attacks, you made a Brussels Mural called Love Bomb:"Coincidentally on that day I wanted to take a train to the airport for a flight to Switzerland which was therefore canceled because of the attacks. I was distressed and I let people know that everything was okay with me but I could feel the general

My Interview in Highlife Magazine Amsterdam Part Anthea Missy, flowing forms and a positive messageTranslated from original interview by Peter van Sparrentak

To me, there’s an obvious connection between music and my art. I am a great music lover, from rock to electro. While painting everything comes together. The picture seems to flow out of my hands. It is a meditative experience. "

You recently expanded your abstract style with a female character."It came while I was touring through Asia. I wanted a character with a message of love and tenderness. It’s turned out to be a woman, and on wall compositions are always that everything was okay with me but I could feel the general

stress of everybody. With Love Bomb I wanted to foster a positive message about life and living the moment. The day after the news I shared the design online. A few days later I started the large mural that I painted in few nights. "

Your paintings brighten the walls. They are always cheerful and optimistic. Where does your style come from?"From the beginning I wanted to be original and develop my own style. I paint flowing, organic patterns. They can be interpreted as flowers, butterflies or fishes. People have the possibility to see and imagine what they want. . "

out to be a woman, and on wall compositions are always more psychedelic than in my sketches. She’s a sort of alter ego. She’s an idealist who loves and dreams a lot. She’s a girl who’s kept strong bonds to her childhood and does not want give them up. “

And she has been joined by a cat ... What is the role of the cat?"That's new! It is a male cat, more a person than an animal. They do things together as a duo. That is also a side of myself related to partnerships and my dream team. Cats are independent creatures and can’t be told where to go and what to do but they can be and remain loyal partners for a lifetime.”

How did you start with graffiti?"Almost 2 years ago from now I got my first public murals created in Amsterdam. First, at a Hall of Fame and later on Java island. Before that, I had tried some stuff at home. I just went to the closest spray paint shop and asked general info about caps and pressure. I took the train to Amsterdam with a small suitcase full of spray cans and moved on.” Did you paint a lot before that?"Not really, but as a child I received basic art school training at primary and secondary school where I was encouraged to follow a creative path by my teachers. "

Did you complete a creative education?" No. I hold a master degree in business and economics. I have always

What do you like about making murals?"Like I said, the bond between music and painting is strong. While listening to music I find inspiration, almost like an automatic writing. I see it as a kind of meditation with physical progress and that suits my dynamic temper. You got to meet a lot of people and there’s a lot of action and funny situations. Every time I start a new art project, a new adventure starts for me! "

Are your paintings legal or illegal?"That's fifty-fifty. I do commissioned works but I like to make my own murals too because I feel really more free creatively-wise. I also like the thrill of danger and adrenaline when you do " No. I hold a master degree in business and economics. I have always

aimed at being my own boss in everything I do, even as an artist. I believe painting and art like any other topics, are subjects you can learn and experience by yourself with time and constant practice ".

How did things go after you did your first paintings in Amsterdam?"I had shared my graffiti on the internet with pictures and movies and got attention via social media. I have painted in different places in Europe since then : London, Brighton, Manchester, Paris, Barcelona, etc… I am thankful to the people who follow my artistic progression and support it. In England I did get a strong support through all initiatives they set up to promote artists as well as street art media.“

wise. I also like the thrill of danger and adrenaline when you do something that is actually not allowed and not expected. I also decorate an area this way!"

Were you ever fined?"In Barcelona, I went to a graffi shop and I asked them for legal places to paint. I thought I had found the place to paint but as the police turned out I understood I had it wrong!I was so upset to be caught so stupidly that I had an overnight painting illegally in Barcelona. Then I visited a street art exhibition and talked to some people who told me that there is an app for your mobile phone with legal graffiti spots in Barcelona: www.murslliures.com. "

You've recently come back from a tour in Asia where you painted in the streets, the rooftop of the Reggae bar , a Japanese hotel and a guesthouse."Yes, I basically went in Asia for a month and then went back for almost a year. I have been in Thailand, Indonesia (Jakarta), Malaysia and Cambodia. On a stop to Bangkok I also painted in Shanghai. In Phnom Penh I painted a lot in a district where there used to be a big lake. I discovered the place when I was first invited by Develop Boeung Kak Art project for 1 month, to revamp the neighborhood with art and murals. I also painted a nice street in town where there was no art. It’s a cool place where nature and urban look and feel come together, with a where nature and urban look and feel come together, with a diverse traffic like children, monks, expats. It quickly became a big graffiti spot where young Cambodian go painting. It's fun to create street art in places where it can be useful. I think that pretty pictures can really have a positive effect on people on their journey to school or work. "

What are you doing now?"I just finished my new website, where I sell art prints and clothing. I'm also going to paint a public place in Brussels Laeken that’s being refurbished, an initiative called Au Bord de l'Eau where summer activities are being organized. "

“I am happy to be preselected for this French Belgian national graffiti competition ( Open graffiti). The artwork selected is a 3m x 1m canvas with a composition that just blends all I have developed in my style since 2014 being abstract and figurative. It will be exposed in Paris in August as part of the pre selection. “
