Environmental Conditions
• Temp. can reach as low as -129F
• Winds up to 200mph
• Less than 1 inch of precipitation a year
• Summer months are more mild, -40 to -50F and winds of 30 to 50 mph
• Weather conditions: overcast, and slight snow

How long Human can endure
• At 32F the body dies within 20 minutes
![Page 4: Antarctica](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022042715/558a8a6dd8b42a4a1e8b479f/html5/thumbnails/4.jpg)
Things Needed to survive
• Many loose layers( tight clothes limit blood circulation)
• First layer: thermal underwear
• Second layer: Jacket and Pants
• Third Layer: removable shell (depending on how much activity)
• Last layer: Parka and pants

• Sun Screen
• Sun Glasses
• 6,000 Calories a day diet

Muscular system
• : when we start to feel cold, we may begin to shiver, movements that are useless in themselves, but that generate heat as a by-product and so help to warm us up. Shivering can increase the production of heat five-fold.

Circulatory System
• body pumps blood throughout the body faster to keep you warm
• Also limits circulation to limbs in order to keep core warm

Skeletal and Integumentary systems
• Body tries to be as small as possible to stay warm
• Add layers so you don’t lose heat through head and limbs
• Frostbite may occur if body gets colder than freezing point
