Applications are now being accepted for the Family and Other Relationships pro-gram. This program offers inmates the opportunity to develop healthy relationships with their family members, and other significant relationships, using the Change Company Journal. While participating in the program, you will learn effective com-municate skills, the affects of substance abuse on relationships, ripple effects, the principles to strengthen your relationships, among other techniques. If you are interested in participating in this program, and have an ACRS score of .15 or higher, please kyte Counselor Nagy at B339, by 6/26/2015. Please indicate what you would like to learn from the program, and why you would be the best candi-date, in your communication. Those interested in participating in the program will be screened for consideration.

Congratulations to the very first HHAAP peer educators at SRCI minimum. The recently completed class had the honor to be part of the first of hopefully many classes at the minimum facility. The following inmates are ready for one on one or small group conversations regarding Hepatitis, HIV, or STD's. Please feel free to ask the following inmates a question you may have about the above subjects or about the class in general. Saul Ayala Dustin St.Clair Jimmy Ray Vaughn Jr If you are interested in the class, or would like to be tested for HIV or Hepatitis please kyte Ms. Galemore BHS (Box 232).

The US Postal service has changed some of their Special Handling services. The rates have gone up slightly. Most people will see their total cost go up by about $0.25. The new “Request for USPS Special Handling” form reflects these changes: RETURN RECIEPT: This is the green postcard that you get back after the recipient has signed for it. It can no longer be purchased without either Certified or Insured services, as well. USPS now refers to this as CERTIFIED RETURN RECEIPT. The $6.25 cost includes the Certified tracking number and the return postcard. This is the service that the majority of people use. CERTIFIED: The cost went up $0.15. This gives you a tracking number, but no signature card in the return mail. CERTIFIED RESTRICTED DE-LIVERY: For $8.60, you will receive a tracking number, and the item will be delivered and signed for by only the addressee. Be aware, that if the addressee is not available to sign it, after three tries the USPS will generally return it to you. For example, with a Restricted Delivery addressed to an attorney, the attorney’s secretary would not be allowed to sign for it, and if your attorney is gone for three days, you may get it back. REMINDERS: Unless DOC is ordered by the court, you cannot indebt your trust account for these services. In GP, please place your mail, with attached request, in the metal outgoing boxes (the ones that used to be for Legal Mail). Thank you, SRCI Mailroom

Do not exercise vigorously during the hottest times of the day. Instead, run, jog, or exercise in the cooler part of the day. If the outside temperature is 82ºF or above and the humidity is high, you should consider doing an abbreviated exercise routine.

Drink lots of liquids to replace the fluids you lose from sweating. Do not wait until you feel like you need a drink. Thirst is not a reliable sign that your body needs fluids. When you exercise, you should take small sips of liquid rather than large drinks. Water is the best drink to replace lost fluids. Water with salt added can be used if you sweat a lot. (Use ½ teaspoon salt in 1 quart of water.).

If you feel very hot, try to cool off. Open a window, use a fan, or turn on an air conditioner.

Some people perspire more than others do. Those who do should drink as much fluid as they can during hot, humid days.

Finally, to protect yourself when temperatures are extremely high, it is important to remember to use common sense.

Please be advised that the hallway corridors can be very crowded at certain times of the day; and it’s im-portant that the inmate population is mindful coming in and out of door-ways to avoid any un-necessary colli-sions, especially the dining halls. Over the next couple weeks, a sign will be placed on the doors to remind each of you to yield to others. Please slow down com-ing out of common areas as well as other areas of the institution. Thank you for your cooperation.
